The reviews on this site praised her in every episode, so maybe I’m just relying on that as the perception. I couldn’t say whether that was the broader opinion of her among the viewing audience.

You’re right! Balls are pretty amazing, if you think about it. Actually, whether or not you think about it.

Why are you describing yourself?

Narrator: It wasn’t.

It’s more the one-dimensionality that makes Turner less interesting to me, and also that it’s so obviously a reworking of the “vengeful maid” plotline from Downton Abbey (Cora’s maid O’Brien who caused her to miscarry), but not done nearly as well.

*disassembled by laser and pulled inside video game world* I fight for the users! Uh, what were we talking about?

Didn’t have to be Bertha. The point is that there was absolutely minimal drama mined from the subplot. We get the gist that Turner is trying to sabotage the dinner, and then when the shenanigans begin, literally instantly the plot is thwarted. We barely had time to worry that anything bad might happen before the show

*trapped inside vacuum chamber wearing environment suit* *taps side of helmet* I can’t hear you!

True. That said, Hollywood’s history is stuffed with directors who had one hit and then got chance after chance after chance (especially if they fall into a certain demographic). I’m sure being a nice person helps, but...

*using extremely loud angle grinder against monolithic marble block* WHAT?

*loudly vacuuming, clearly cannot hear anything you’re saying* Uh huh. Yeah. Sure.

That’s not what I’m talking about, although I have noticed that too; but I think that’s just a cinematography choice (although kind of an odd one). Specifically I’m talking about the actual encoding quality of the image; it was visible in every shot, regardless of what kind of lens or lighting they were using.

*flipping through magazine* Uh-huh. Yeah. Uh-huh.

*not listening, or even reading past the first sentence of your comment* Mm hm, mm hm. Yes, very interesting.

“kind of obvious for decades”

I’m ambivalent. On the one hand, even though S14 was really quite good (although I don’t really get the love for Zara; I don’t think she’s particularly funny or interesting), I don’t think it serves well for a show to run endlessly. A show can only be fresh and inventive and boundary-pushing for so long; eventually

I think the answer is that 1) his movies typically make good enough money, and 2) he’s apparently a really nice guy who everyone likes working with. In the calculus of Hollywood, whether your movies are actually any good by any reasonable critical metric is irrelevant.

You trolls are adorable. Like, what is it you think you’re accomplishing here?

You sure seem to be really angry for no reason. Maybe you should switch to decaf.
