Oh, Gibson’s in this?

“We have Michael Bay movies at home.”

I’m schadenfreudedly happy to hear that I haven’t missed much by not watching this season:terrible dialogue, terrible pacing, terrible acting, no internal direction within the episodes” pretty well describes much of the first and second seasons, and I can’t say I’m surprised the third season has the same problems.

A Mandalorian

Evans strikes me as the kind of actor who’s mostly funny playing the straight man who gets funny lines, rather than a goofy comedian type. So I can see why he’d be nervous about doing something like SNL where in order for him to be funny, the writing has to be really sharp.

Oh man, NATM is great; I’ve watched it a couple of times. At a distant glance, yeah, it can be mistaken for Friedberg & Seltzer garbage, but it’s actually quite clever and fun.

Money spent: $0. (Well, $1 for parking.) I have an annual pass at the local theater which gets me one free ticket per day. I wouldn’t have bothered seeing this otherwise.

I just got back from seeing it. The assessment you quote is correct; SMB is brightly-colored noise, an extruded movie-shaped product designed to entertain six-year-olds. There’s really nothing here for any adult with a modicum of critical discernment aside from the suicidal, nihilistic Lumalee (I’m not kidding) who’s

Him?

You should have given them five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred punches!

Mainly because it was pretty inept storytelling. Clumsy dialogue, plot holes you could ride a rancor through, characters acting like morons so that the show can happen, people getting stabbed by lightsabers and then showing up again a little while later just fine, etc. I liked the idea, and I don’t care about the
