Trucking industry speak for “Less than Truck Load.” LTL carriers take a bunch of small loads (less than a full truck load) and repackaged them into a full trailer load that are all heading to approximately the same location.

Huge? It’s only 2 inches longer than a NA in wheelbase and overall length and 2 inches wider, but the same height.
Yeah I’m kinda of curious if he’s mixing up the Polaris Slingshot, which is kind of like a modern 3-wheeled Lotus 7, and the CanAm Spyder, which is definitely dumb as it’s all of the downsides of a motorcycle and a car mixed together.
One of my favorite quotes, “The best engineering practices are no match for human stupidity.”
Exotics and vintage cars I kind of get the 10, 15, 20 year loan thing, because the depreciation floor on those cars is still going to be pretty high, or they may be appreciating if they are collector cars. Why tie up $100,000 in a Testarossa that’s very likely going to appreciate when you can just finance it, and…
That’s why I said “evergreen” vegetation. There are plenty of plants/shrubs/trees that keep there leaves all year.
I’m curious how much vegetation would help. There are a lot of sections of barrier walls in my area that are almost completely covered in vines. I know that wouldn’t work in the Southwest, but in most other areas I don’t see why they just can’t plant some fast growing, evergreen vegetation and just let it go wild.
According to this article there are approximately 12 legal R34s that were imported and federalized by Motorex. So those ones are legal, the rest are illegal, at least until 2024.
Yeah I know it’s been around in the mountain biking scene ever since free-riding started becoming big in the late 90s. And most of those early pros came from skiing/snowboarding backgrounds.
It can happen at a larger production place too. I know of a fairly large production case (~90,000 parts per year) where they narrowed it down to a new guy who improperly mixed the materials for a part. Production stuff like that is tracked pretty well.
Should I sell my NA Miata (1994) to get a NC? I love my NA, but part of me wants something newer. I’ve also never really owned a “fast” car, so a C6 Corvette is also on my mind, but would I hate the interior?
When I worked at a bike shop, we had a good friend/customer have two of his bikes stolen, both worth more than a couple grand, and he had our shop’s stickers all over the bikes. A few days later someone brought the bikes into a pawn shop only 3 blocks from our store, and the pawn shop’s owner was the dad of a kid we…
Who said anything about it needing to be practical? And you do realize that a G-wagon is smaller is every dimension than a Sequoia right? Well except height on the 4x4^2, but still shorter and narrower.
Ha! I go to that beach quite often (Long Beach Peninsula in Washington). What I love is watching the people trying to drive their cars or minivans out onto the beach since most of the entrances have some really soft, dry sand you have to drive through to get to the hard pack.
I think you’re right, we’re about on the same page. I agree there are many factors involved. I think another problem is that people are not only stereotyped, but also the careers. I bet a lot of people think Dilbert when they think of engineers, when in reality I work with a wide range of people. Yes there are people…
You are correct that it’s up to the parents, but it’s too late to change the parent’s minds, they are going to think that until they die. If no one else tells the kid, “hey if you’re interested in sailing it’s not as expensive as you may think” then that kid will just keep thinking the same way their parents do, and…
You literally just supported my point. As long as we keep telling girls that statistics show they are better suited for people/social fields then they will never go into technical fields. And as an engineer I seen that the biggest thing that holds people back in there careers is their lack of people skills. In my…
Like I said in my other post, a poor minority kid won’t know he can sail boats if no one from that community reaches out to him. Their parents may support them, but most likely the parents also see it as a rich white dudes sport and won’t have a clue that their kid could become the next Olympic gold medal sailor. It…
The problem is people won’t know your sport is inclusive if you don’t show them. The poor, minority kid may have no idea that they too can participate in competitive sailing, because as you said, it is traditionally seen as a rich, white person’s sport. By reaching out to them to be inclusive then they may see they…
I like how the announcers act like he hit the brakes too late, when it’s pretty clear the left rear suspension was totally gone from the first contact and the front tires aren’t even on the ground. It’s kinda hard to brake when you’ve only got 1 tire touching the ground.
