The fact that this article/complaint was written by a man (Finger) rubs me the wrong way, too. I get the female-as-punchline complaint, to an extent, but then he writes this:

I agree. It’s the best reparative action I can think of. And maybe the only one that won’t necessarily involve more violence? I often wonder now how close we are to either eventuality...

Thank for your comment. I’m 34, just ended an intense relationship and nowhere near thinking about beginning all that again just yet. I want to have a family very badly so there’s an extra element of heartbreak; I’ve been soothing myself with thoughts of doing it on my own eventually but I won’t be financially ready…
