This lawsuit would have a better chance if, say, the Ritz sued on the basis that it’s losing diplomatic guests to Trump Tower.

Do other 4 star hotels in DC have standing to bring against Trump’s hotel there? Is it an unfair advantage that the President runs a business that will be receiving favor from foreign governments?

I think they would have been smarter to find a plaintiff to bring this suit, rather than CREW. For example, they could have found a competitor (such as a DC hotel) that was actually injured by the alleged Emoluments Clause violations. I wonder if that is why they have the third party injury portion of the complaint—

I worry that Trump will figure out a way to have the United States declare bankruptcy and make money off it. It’s his style.

“countless conflicts of interest” and allow “unprecedented influence by foreign governments.”

Many times over the last year, particularly over the last 6 months as this freight train has gained speed, I have had twinges of regret that I didn’t pursue a career in law. I chose the path of artist instead. The things I can do in my work to oppose the horror we now face seem less concrete (though no less important)

If only the journalists would have been more fair with him, maybe he wouldn’t have had to be so corrupt! /s

As dumb as it is, I think you’re still overthinking it. Beck and these charlatans know that at this point you just have to say “Soros” and the Pavlovian dissonance kicks in for the Trumpalos.

Even if Soros did kick in some money to some organizers... so? I don’t care if he personally bought a plane ticket for every woman in the march. Just because someone offers you funding doesn’t mean you’re beholden to them in some nefarious way.

You know, the last person to claim, “If the president does it, it can’t be illegal,” was Richard Nixon, who was referred to by a Good Journalist as “a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president,” as well as “so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning.”

I guarantee the Scots would throw a damn party if he had to entirely divest of his holdings there.

I used this just now and I do feel better.

The only advantage of getting Farage on Fox is that we might see less of him on the BBC.

Failed? I wish reviled meant failed but instead he is a classically successful politician. I doubt the tens of thousands of people of color harmed by stop and frisk would consider his policy a failure.

Oh, I remember that guy! He’s the genius who put NY’s emergency-command center in a building complex that had already been hit by terrorists.

He had a couple agents build a pretty big wall around his computer, so the internets are very secure

I’m ready to march on Saturday, April 15th to protest his refusal to disclose his taxes.

Republicans operate on a simple premise: federal government is corrupt and ineffective, and must thus be destroyed. If you believe that, then you have no problem installing cronies and telegenic morons to run federal departments into the ground, because that fits entirely with your narrative (and if they use their

The Party will grow stronger than you can possibly imagine. Just consider the possibility that they don’t need anybody competent because the real decisions are being made by special interests who merely want want figureheads throughout the executive branch.
