I don’t claim to have all the answers either, but I think lately some people seem too preoccupied with not “coddling” people with bad views, which strikes me as macho “Fuck your feelings!” bullshit.
Do you think refusing to “coddle” them will make them more likely to change?
See my reply to David Puddy the 2nd.
I doubt it’ll work the same way with Supreme Court justices, unless you can think of a way to intimidate them out of their seat. They’ll still have the power to vote the way they want, and I don’t see why threats would make them change their minds.
And I assume you think that’s bad, as I do. I also assume you think “turnabout is fair play” means pro-choicers should harass pro-lifers. I disagree for a couple reasons. One, unless you can show that all this harassment of abortion providers has made them back off on providing abortions, then I don’t see why…
And I’m sure you’d be fine with pro-lifers harassing pro-choice judges.
1. We have no idea how diverse the entire production would’ve been. We know that a black couple(Malcolm and Nichelle Spellman) was set to be prominently involved, and a lot of the people(like you in point 4) who blasted the show for being created by two white guys accused it of tokenism after their involvement was…
That NYT article was written by Roxane Gay, who says she got the “slavery fan fiction” line from a journalist named Pilot Viruet who said: “Give me the confidence of white showrunners telling HBO they wanna write slavery fanfic.” I wonder if she thought it was arrogant for a Gentile like Philip K. Dick to write…
He couldn’t change the law that kicked him out of office.
Neither did I, although I read the book. Thing is, you called Confederate “slavery fan fiction” without watching the show(since, you know, it doesn’t exist). I wonder if you assume High Castle is Holocaust fan fiction.
How would Confederate be more problematic than The Man in the High Castle?
If people did that to you, would you change your political views?
I think the TV franchise isn’t as well-remembered as it should be considering how long it lasted.
Weird that people don’t remember Stargate more.
I love sci-fi and sports, and not many stories combine both.
Do you assume that’s why anti-abortion women oppose it too?
I think a lot of them wouldn’t care even if they were the pregnant one.
There are prts of the qorld that can’t afford proper spelling.
The guy who voiced Rambo in the cartoon wasn’t a star like Chris Evans.
