Trump and Palin have the same labyrinthine speaking style.

By neckbeards do you mean Trekkies or Trump supporters?

I've read conservatives argue that the Empire were the good guys in Star Wars.

That's why I think it's misguided to blame the media for Trump's success, as if Trump's campaign would fail if the media refused to give him legitimacy. I think the reason Trump's doing so well isn't just because he has a platform to spout his crap, it's because lots of people actually care and agree with what he has

Kristen Stewart's personal shopper has their own trailer?

"Shaun Cassidy for President!"

I thought that was actually a pretty good episode, but pretty lousy satire. It was kinda like if they made fun the Bush administration's inability to find WMDs in Iraq by having an episode where Dubya looks for unicorns in Iraq: even if were directed at a worthy target it would still be pretty bad satire.

I think their satire's gotten more nuanced over time. For example, last year they managed to do an effective satire of political correctness without reducing it to "Either everything's OK or nothing's OK."

I think that generally speaking the more things you claim a work ripped off, the weaker your case is that it's a ripoff. Copying one story is a ripoff, taking elements from different stories and combining them into something new isn't.

Anyone know why Lynch's intended cut has never been released?

I definitely see the Dune influence, I just think this was a case of using the "ripoff" accusation too loosely.

I don't see how the movie was better than the miniseries for people who weren't huge fans, considering theaters actually handed out glossaries to help people understand what was going on.

I read in Brian Herbert's biography's of his father that Frank was pretty pissed at Star Wars because he thought it ripped off Dune. He and a group of other writers who thought similarly called themselves the We're Too Big to Sue George Lucas club. As much as I love Dune, I don't see how there would've had much of a

Just gimme gimme gimme gimme fried chicken!

"THIS IS ALPHA FIIIIIVE!"

I've brought this up a few times before, but I still wonder when was this past era when people were so much smarter than they are now.

Frank Herbert liked the movie, so I don't see why a person can't like both.

I think maybe liberals should own the victim thing more. "Damn right we're victims. You know what, it doesn't do any good to say we're not victims when we are. What's bad is claiming victim status when you're not a victim, like someone who thinks the mere existence of gay marriage makes them a victim."

I wasn't disputing that calling the race would cause fewer people to vote; my point is that I think Hillary would lose more votes because her voters are more likely to be like "We got this, no need to vote" whereas Bernie voters would be more likely to go "Don't let them tell you it's over." Thus, Bernie would lose a

Since when has favorability actually correlated with electability? A lot of people liked Ron Paul, didn't help him much when he ran.
