That's one reason why I think 30 Rock made the right decision to only show the show-within-a-show occasionally and make it intentionally bad, rather than the original idea of a part-sitcom part-sketch show with the sketches intended to actually be funny.

I think the super-high expectations for S60 were why the show's failure attracted so much schadenfreude, seeing this mega-hyped show collapse under the weight of Sorkin's ego while the scrappy underdog 30 Rock defied the expectations and won critics over.
