I love musicals to pieces, and throughout this pandemic watching at least one a week has helped keep me sane, but I have to say that I’m not convinced that they work when covering a very serious issue. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but given that the novel features sexual, physical and verbal abuse of a child I’d

I’ve been fortunate enough to see The Worst Person In The World and Strawberry Mansion and loved both, and though they’re very different movies I’d highly recommend them.

I’m surprised to hear this is so bland, the creators were also behind Mike Tyson Mysteries, which admittedly ran out of steam after a while but the first couple of seasons were often very funny and unpredictable.

It’s that season 5 was so bad that I can’t forget (or forgive) it, they fundamentally altered something in Buster’s past in a way that for me is truly horrible.

I did something similar bar the chronological element, and I’m absolutely with you, I thought it was a very sweet natured and charming film and so was surprised to read Although it’s generally seen as lesser Disney these days” in the news piece.

I always used to go with the idea that if something returns and isn’t any good I’d just pretend it doesn’t exist and that wouldn’t spoil my love for the original series.

Arrested Development Season 5 and what they did with Buster’s character changed all that though, so now I’m a little nervous about a new season of

Ah man, that’s horrible news. My thoughts go out to all seven who are leaving the site, you’ll be greatly missed, and I hope it isn’t too difficult finding work elsewhere.

That’s very, very true, I guess I wasn’t so bothered as I’d read the comics and never bothered with the tv show so wasn’t upset by the cancellation news, but I completely understand why many were. I just hope it hasn’t put people off watching Creamerie as it’s a series I enjoyed an awful lot, and there haven’t been

That’s a bit harsh on Creamerie, it does have some things in common with Y but it’s definitely it’s own beast, and much more interested in telling a story about three very specific characters. Plus it’s really fun too, so I hope it finds a decent sized audience and gets picked up for a second season.

That sounds about right, my parents bought a house in 1981 in Surrey which was a 15 minute train journey from Croydon, and it only cost £41,000.

Yeah, there were definitely aspects of the film which worked / were intriguing, but ever since Whedon turned out to be a horrendous human being it seems the site will give him a kicking whenever they can.

I hope you enjoyed it, and would be really interested to hear your thoughts on it either way.

If you can track down The Astrologer I think it’d fit the bill - https://www.pastemagazine.com/movies/the-astrologer/1975s-the-astrologer-is-the-greatest-cult-classic/

I partially liked the US one, but as mentioned above the shorter running time made it feel too rushed, and as much as I love Reggie elsewhere I don’t think he was a great fit for the Taskmaster role.

So far in the NZ versions I’ve really enjoyed the line-ups, and the second series is right up there with my favourite ever UK season (five, with Bob Mortimer and Sally Phillips).

I get where you’re coming from and I’ll be interested to see if it can make it past ten series, but fingers crossed it will.

That’s great to hear that it’s becoming more popular in the US, I really wish your version had taken off as it showed a lot of promise, but I think the 22 minute run time made it feel all a bit rushed.

The first series of the NZ show takes a little while to get going, and host Jeremy Wells is no Greg Davies, but

I know Taskmaster wasn’t a big hit in the US, but I’d highly recommend the second series of the New Zealand version of the show (and you don’t need to have seen any of the others to enjoy it). David Correos, Guy Montgomery and Laura Daniels were all superb in it, and it was easily the highlight of my year, all of the

I found out about it when it streamed online as part of a festival, which was completely by chance but I’m so glad I did as it led me to watching his other films which are enormously fun too.

This so far has only done the festival circuit, but my favourite movie of 2021 was Albert Reed’s Strawberry Mansion, an incredibly inventive film that doesn’t let its low budget prevent it from being beautifully crazy.
