I think the worst thing about the current political atmosphere is that no one has a sense of shame anymore. It used to be that if you were caught in an egregious lie that you paid some kind of price for it, whether it be losing your job or being disciplined by the political party.
Hell, the goddamn Pope is more liberal than most Catholics in the Republican party.
Even the 80% was enough to notice something was different though. It was a cloudless sky but the light wasn't nearly as intense. I described it as kind of like watching a movie with a cheap filter over the lens to simulate night-time while filming in the day.

I was amazed that both buildings (10 stories) in our office complex basically emptied out right before the maximum here. We only got about 85% but it was still a marvel.

That's the real shame of this transition… the AV Club is pretty much unique in terms of having an active, positive, mostly self-policing comment section. We don't suffer trolls here, and they usually get scared away after getting pilloried by everyone else. I hope that enough of us transition to the new platform to…
