I've only seen the first one so far and I enjoyed that one. Then again, I also haven't been in a rush to watch another one.

Hang on, is that review nearly two hours long? I can barely find the time to watch an episode of Sherlock. I can't imagine listening to someone complain about the show for longer than an episode's runtime.

I disagree with every bit of that, but fair enough.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you fell into that category. I've just noticed that that seems to be a big issue with Who fans.

That's a really good point. I started watching Who a few years after the reboot started so I binged a lot of it. My wife tried to watch a bit of classic Who and I honestly found the bit of it I saw to be a real slog. I don't have a ton of Who baggage, or any kind of idea of what Doctor Who "should" be.

The whole "Moffat ruined Who" thing is completely baffling to me. It's a bunch of fun, crazy sci-fi/fantasy stories with a really great cast. Both Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi are fantastic as the Doctor. And you know what? I have no clue if his season arcs hold together perfectly, but I really enjoyed all of them.

Watch until you're no longer enjoying it, then stop. I recognize that it's kind of all over the place but I think the pros still outweigh the cons. Although I haven't finished season 4 which people seem to loathe.

I'm not sure what the general consensus is, but I think the Matt Smith stuff is fantastic Doctor Who. Head and shoulders above the Tennant stuff (which I still really enjoyed).

Because his stuff is all pretty fun and entertaining?

Whatever you say, millennial.

Then why do I feel so misinformed, huh? Answer me that!

@avclub-7fe51b13499ad08aba40a93cbf6e98cd:disqus and @thomasengland:disqus , thank you. This argument is the funniest thing I've seen all day. Although you should know, both of you posted a ton of misinformation.

Oh, shit. Staples. I just now got that.

I'm a big DC comics fan, and after the one-two punch of BvS and Suicide Squad I would've been happy if they just threw in the towel. I haven't seen Wonder Woman yet but I'm definitely interested. If the movies are more WW and less SS going forward I'd be very happy.

Now, don't get me wrong. I really like the MCU and I think it's a minor miracle that it's so enjoyable and it all works together so well. But I really think it's the exception and shouldn't necessarily be the formula that everyone else follows from here on out,

I really think you're overestimating the importance of the solo movie. Action movies with ensemble casts have been around for a lot longer than superhero movies. The Ocean's 11 crew didn't all need solo movies. Or the X-Men. Or the Magnificent Seven. Or the Seven Samurai. Or the Fellowship of the Ring. Or the

Bingo. I was going to respond to you, @Fancyarcher:disqus , but @avclub-d35d0af0d2a70c049bbedcb88e25ef28:disqus got it in one. I know that superheoes are more complicated because they all have some long, drawn out history or accident or birthright that gave them their powers. That certainly complicates things, but

Well…is it? Don't keep us in suspense!

Yeah, that goes without saying. I just think it's interesting that because Marvel did it one way, that seems to be the only "acceptable" way to build a cinematic universe. As if everyone should have their own cinematic universe, which is a whole other conversation (they should not, obviously).

For sure, but in this case I think the lack of quality is by far the more important factor.
