I like Braff for the most part. Scrubs is great. I have no idea if Garden State holds up, but I enjoyed when it first came out.

Exactly. I mostly enjoyed Jessica Jones but the whole thing is just a mushy pile in my head because my wife and I watched it all in 2 days. Although that's also partially due to the fact that Marvel's Netflix shows don't always do a great job distinguishing between episodes.

That is seriously one of the funniest sight gags in the history of everything ever.

Bingeing (binging?) really is both the best and worst, isn't it? It's great to sit down and watch several episodes in a row, but when they're over I feel like I haven't digested it. I have a hard time figuring out what happened in which episode and it all just turns into a vague blur.

Right? I watch like 6 or 7 shows on the CW at this point. If you had told me five years ago that that would be the case I never would've believed you.

Let it go, man.

That's just what trailers do now. They play a three second sizzle reel at the beginning to catch your eye if you have videos set to auto play on Facebook.

It's pretty different in that regard. The main character goes from applying to college to applying to grad school. He's not quite the petulant little shit who can never be happy that he is in the first book or two. But for the most part I think it gets the spirit of the books, all the broken people who set off to a

I didn't mean to suggest that people were hating on it unfairly. If you hate it then hate away. It was just a bit of a bummer to be pleasantly surprised by the trailer and then come here to find a tsunami of negativity.

Yeah, but I don't see any indication that he's be alakazamming all over the place. Just using his gunslinger super senses to shoot things. He never does that exact thing in the books but it seems like it fits pretty neatly into the "things a badass gunslinger could do" box.

Do we know for sure that there's no Eddie? I know the movie is a loose adaptation that reworks the books and moves some things around, but Eddie doesn't pop up until the second book so it's not strange that he's absent here.

Eh, it doesn't hurt so much as disappoint. I watched the trailer expecting a disaster and thought, "huh, that looks like it might actually work." Then I came here and was reminded that everyone on the internet hates everything.

He certainly isn't, thank the Man Jesus.

Callahan.

That's true, and I totally get why people are bothered when the source material gets changed. I've gotten mad about that sort of thing in the past. I guess for me it depends on the change, and whether or not the spirit of the original is still present.

Good point. He does pop up in 2 in a pivotal scene, but he doesn't play a part in the story again until 3.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Damn my optimism! I just can't help it. Maybe I'm letting my love of the books color my judgment here, but I think this trailer looks better than your average sci-fi shoot em up.

Count me among the cautiously optimistic. It kinda hurts to see everyone ragging on this trailer, but whenever the AV Club rises up against something I just remind myself that commentariat just about laughed Hannibal out of town before it premiered.

Yeah, Roland might not be magical per se but he might as well be. He has eyes like a bird of prey. At one point he's scratching his jaw outdraws a guy who already had his hand of the butt of his pistol. And every time he draws King makes a point to have Eddie or whoever marvel at how damn fast he is. How his hands are

No, but if I'm walking down the street and I hear the snippet of a song my first thought is not that a phone is ringing, especially if the volume isn't all the way up. But even at half volume, when I hear a phone ring that's designed to grab my attention it's pretty clear what's going on. It's not that I'm just going
