As someone who agrees that using animals in this fashion is probably cruel, but also hates CGI, I feel very conflicted right now.

As much as I’d love to be catty about this, I think a fair amount of it is make-up/styling. In pictures from other angles she looks more like herself.
I bought it when I was like 20 and read the first 80 pages. It is currently duct-taped to the bottom of a swiffer and I use it to kill roaches I don’t want to get too close to.
The good news is they’re making that law (in the military at least):
Yeah, I’m not getting the Phantom Thread hate in this ... thread. It’s fantastic.
GTFO. Phantom Thread was dope as hell.
Olivia Colman is dope as hell in everything. She stole the Night Manager from Hiddles and Laurie, which I otherwise wasn’t particularly fond of. Not to mention Peep Show, Broadchurch, HOT FUZZ. She’s so bomb. I can’t wait to see her take this on.
Every time I’ve been there I’ve seen someone touch this statue, which is almost 5 thousand years old. Sometimes more than one person. Sometimes adults. Makes my blood boil.
Yeah, I’ve been to the met many times in the decade I’ve lived in NY, and every time I’ve been there I’ve said, “I’ll pay $5 (sometimes less, but never full price),” and no one’s ever given a shit.
No idea. When I went there (around 2014), there was one visible, and it made both my husband and I very sad. Doesn’t necessarily mean the bear wasn’t getting enough stimulation, but it definitely made us not want to go to the zoo again.
Oh, sure, I’m not saying no animals in captivity ever, I’m just skeptical that putting them in the middle of a big urban area is the solution. That said, the the grizzly bear at bronx zoo is one of the saddest looking animals I’ve ever seen, and that’s a pretty big zoo.
#neverforget
I could get on board with that. As long as I can still have petting zoos with goats and those tiny ponies (which aren’t wild).
I think they still would, which, honestly, I’m okay with. I think I would shoot the bears under those circumstances (circumstances being they’re chewing on a likely but not certainly dead human child). But then I’d also probably try to advocate for potentially dangerous predators not to be kept in the middle of…
Seeing this headline, I couldn’t help but be reminded of an even sadder piece of NYC Polar Bear history: the time two polar bears were shot and killed by police in the Prospect Park Zoo after they (the bears, not the police) mauled and killed an 11-year-old boy who snuck into their enclosure after hours:
Thenk you. :-*

I’ll admit, I thought Ed Harris and Michelle Pieffer were great, and did find the Cain and Abel sequence creepily satisfying. But as soon as you catch onto the fact that this is a biblical allegory it feels very paint by numbers . . . the second half was so turgid and boring.
I’m not sure RPatt is dry toast, but I’m only judging by how awesome he was in The Rover and Good Time, which were not dry toast movies. He picks interesting stuff.
