The X3 serves that role just fine, so offering a cheaper base model would have been the wiser business move.

The hidden rear door handles also seem really annoying to manage if you have small kids because they will have a hard time reaching the handles and - if they can reach them - exerting enough leverage to open them.

You know what? In the case of Honda - you don’t have a lot of these problems on the lower trims without all the complicated infotainment clusterfuck. For example, the Ridgeline was consistently knocked for not having a physical volume knob but that’s a manufactured problem for the upper trims. The lower 3 trim levels…
