I know the One X is plastic/polycarbonate. But its Unibody and feels sturdy. I've had a Fascinate and a Galaxy S. They plastics feel the same and to be honest (here i go..) compared to the iPhone's Glass they feel cheap. Even compared to the HTC Thunderbolt's metal they feel cheap.

Difference with the volt is its in regards to the batteries. Cars get set onfire for many reason. The volt's wasn't a simple short, or gas leak. It was in regards to the batteries. Thats why people were on end.

Why not just add a flip up LCD to the top of your rack of servers? (If you have a rack). That with a KVM should work well. Our Server rack here has one.
Same here; Once I switched to a Macbook Pro + Hedgedock, theres been no need for a desktop. Besides i'm on the move a lot and syncing everything up just sucks.
Have one of these in a case. Works like a charm. But the touch controls are a bit unresponsive at times.
