I also had a 2-door GTI and always wished I had the 4-door. Eventually my girlfriend got an A3 hatchback, which she later destroyed. It’s still on the road somewhere in Wisconsin. And this has been Volkswagen Group memories with Doug.

As the former owner of a 2-door GTI, I fail to see what is wrong with a 4 door GTI. 2-doors are a pain on a vehicle that is supposed to be utilitarian performance, not pure performance.

The H2 was a POS rattle trap that couldn’t even traverse a simple rock bed without breaking a tie rod. Add to the fact that H2 was rolling caricature of the real thing (H1) really brought out the “poser” among its owners. Hummer was the worst execution of a great idea that GM did not deserve the right to market.

But $500 is a lot! Next time I’ll just buy a car with the $1500 AWD option, and still slide off the road!
