I’d give most of the best lines in the episode to Sophie Lennon. Everything about Jane Lynch was my favorite thing in the premiere.

I for one enjoyed Jared/Donald’s origin story. He was born into a family that acts like a business, and effectively got fired from the family at a young age.

He disappeared in that role in Narcos.  I had to watch for a couple of episodes to place him.

He’s a friendly, well-meaning guy who has an endless well of bleak history and frequently either collapses into hysterical rage or gets a haunted shattered mood while wearing a friendly smile.

He plays a good one in season 3 of Narcos.

You’re right—I re-watched the scene.  I didn’t think the line was delivered or filmed to sound like a complement, myself, but I can see how it could be (and the wording certainly could be).  At any rate, we agree that there’s no indication that this was a pathetically low rate she was “subjecting” herself to, or that

ded. you don’t have opinions about what people choose to be called, or about their lives. and if you do keep it to your self. it’s like you being gay and me having the opinion oh you’re not actually gay, you’re confused. it may be “an opinion” but it is actually just rude and disrespectful (and yknow, wrong).

I appreciate everything you say--and I think statements like “the pathetically low price” etc (like it would have been different if she had been paid whatever isn’t pathetically low) are value judgements.  However, to *partially* defend the reviewer’s poorly worded comment, they did have the john actually make a

Nope, you’re not, at least not when you’re doing it in bad faith. Sorry not sorry, you’re not being respectful at all.

Let’s break this down, cause you bring up a lot of interesting things here but I wanna talk about them as coherently as I can.

Just because Che has done dumb things before doesn’t make deadnaming a trans woman and using the wrong pronouns to describe her any less bad. I’m not trans, but even I know that and can talk about it.

They should be able to expect the respect of not being deadnamed. And since you’re cis it’s definitely not up to you to decide what is and isn’t disrespectful for trans people. All you gotta do is listen to them and not say what they’re saying is wrong.

No mention of the deadnaming of a transwoman? And using the wrong pronouns for her? Seems an odd thing to skip over.

If you’re looking for well written articles, you’ve come to the wrong place

fuck che and jost for dead-naming, among everything else

I am so glad you are commenting here.

Makes me think of Betty Draper’s final days. She chooses not to treat her cancer, against her husband and her male doctor’s wishes. First life choice she makes in the whole series is to die.

No. Slate’s genuine, funny, and endearing.

we can all choose to read Lori’s death as depressing and sad (which, of course, it certainly is, for lots of reasons...) but i am going to make a case for her death as a tiny bit of justice and self-determination that was a LONG time coming...

Third week in a row now: “sex workers” is not hyphenated.
