OK, this is a good faith, thoughtful comment so I am happy to engage. It has occurred to me that this show and its humor maybe just aren’t for me! There are plenty of things I don’t find funny that I can see others might. But while Palm Royale might be going for camp, I don’t think it’s landing it. This is what I mean

Norma was trying to say “Revolver.” They cut to a rack of guns on a wall with one missing.

Can someone talk me out of bailing out on this... and Girls on the Bus as well? Neither is moving anywhere and when the do, it’s the wrong step.

I swear that this site has the worst writers on the internet.

“Try Maxine,” comes a male voice, in the tone of a therapist.

“The New George O’Malley”? In this context I’m not even sure what that means?

Yeah, and it’s kinda galling that the article goes out of the way to mention that Dior made outfits for the Nazis’ wives, which, while not exactly above reproach, is nowhere near the level of Chanel’s love and work for them - she was a registered Abwehr agent, for Christ sake.

A few years ago I stumbled across a kid’s book about her. It was part of a series of books for little girls about “inspirational” women in history. It turned my stomach a bit.

By the look of it, no. Chanel’s “rehabilitation” in the 1950s remains one of the great PR scams of the 20th century, but let’s be clear: Coco Chanel fucked and praised Nazis, eagerly, frequently, and entirely of her own free will, and she was a vicious anti-Semite.

Nothing about Chanel’s anti-semitism, then?

And speaking of the Downton similarities they seem to be setting up a retelling of the Cora/Earl Crawley story with Gladys and the Duke. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out in an upcoming episode that he is very much broke and Bertha would be all too happy to assist in order to make her daughter a Duchess. Honestly it

You’re gonna have a lot of egg on your face when the Russell manor is firebombed by anarchists

Grow up big and strong; you’re gonna need it if you’re gonna act like that.

You gotta set the tone

Watching that one brief scene with Aniston and Margulies, it occured to me that both of their careers really began on the same Thursday night on NBC almost 30 years ago when Friends and ER debuted. I don’t really have any point here, but it just struck me as funny.

He will support her decision once Gladys has actually fallen for Oscar, even if Bertha is still against the match.

I had the exact opposite reaction. It felt so uncomfortable. The whole sex scene was very cringey (and I love me a good Jon Hamm sex scene). No chemistry at all.

Chief’s footage of Bev chewing gum. . .
