FCA can stop with the dumb special editions anytime now. I thought the Jeep Renegade “Dawn of Jackassery” special edition was stupid, this is well beyond that. If you want a yellow truck, just buy a regular yellow truck and hope none of your friends see you driving around it.

In the shop’s defense, Jeeps (at least older 4.0 lite models) are notorious for finicky sensors. I’ve dealt with replacing plenty myself, they’re all the real deal. I’m not sure what model years you’ve had so it may be different.

A 100 and some odd dollar oil change/fuel filter change on a company truck at a generic quick lube place. They acknowledged that they used the wrong fuel filter and crossthreaded it into place. “I had to really crank on it because I didnt have the right one but it’s on there now” were the exact words of the tech.

Is he taking orders? Since Ford continues to break my heart over and over by refusing to be cool.

Came here to say Pantera, left satisfied.

I’ve been seriously torn between a turbo manual Renegade and a turbo manual Dart for a daily driver after I move. Both have good fuel economy and glorious turbo noises, and after reading this I’m really sold on a Renegade. They get a lot of hate from Jeep purists but I think they really pulled off a great look on the

Understandably so. I’ve experienced that before on smaller trucks with exhaust brakes, I’d hate to go for the ride this guy did. Code brown all the way.

This may actually work very well. And increase AWD offerings, especially on Golf and Dart/200 platforms, maybe even giving them a hatch turning them in to any ever lust worthy CUV.

I really like this idea. A buyout or merger to try to save two wayward companies, and keep the Dart and 200 alive by offering (a compliant) diesel in them. VW does build very functional small cars, FCA builds power barges. I could see a joint effort working for them.

Neutral: The appeal of Volkswagen to me has always been the smaller cars like early/mid 2000s Golfs and Jettas. I have nothing against the Passat or similar cars, I would just buy something else (Fusion, Impala, etc.) if I were in the market to spend money for a larger sedan. More little Golfs, Jettas, and Beetles

I’ve never ran a large truck with a standard trans, but I knew they were a pretty narrow shift range so I didn’t know if any miracles could be made to happen with downshifting.

Very true

I read the title and thought no way....at first. Then I saw turbo/intercooled and manual to add to the AWD goodness, not to mention low miles and no rust. NP all day long, 10/10 would hoon this car.

That does make sense. Like you said, it could very well have been that he tried to downshift and it over revved sticking him in neutral.

Agreed. As some others have mentioned, it could very well have been a result of pressure from his bosses.

Agreed. The trucker that haul for one company around me talk about how cheaply the boss tries to run the trucks to increase margin. Bald tires in winter, non working A/C, poor brakes. It’s a shame really.

Wow, that’s terrible! I know around where I live, we have a lot of hills and there have been some accidents due to trucks not downshifting and brakes overheating. You can smell it sometimes going down the road. Good info!

Definitely so! If it could have been slammed into a lower gear, it would have been an easy choice to do it.

I really couldn’t tell you, I’m not entirely sure. In smaller trucks they do but something of this size I’m unsure.

I knew it was pretty narrow, I just wasn’t sure if a driver would be able to get gears to mesh to slow it down.
