A lot of hate is going to be thrown at Stuart for being a bit of a hypocrite but this is a truly ridiculous situation. Fining a driver, any driver, for voicing real founded safety concerns is asinine.

It’s a lot of money but you never see these on the road. Damn cool car and a NP all day for me.
*diet* Mountain Dew. Because he’s health minded.
I get what’s going on here and the car has a cool funk but it was still built to someone else’s tastes and they’ve over valued it. Very cool but I wouldn’t dream of putting down nearly 23k on it. CP all the way.
I know you said the engine’s bulletproof and everything but if it does have a problem, I have one question....
I think that’s actually supposed to be imitating a “barn find” look. Don’t quote me though, I’m not 100% sure.
“And Marty, it’s got 6 months reg. left on it mate!” I can’t wait to see what they put that Saab through.
Saab 900 turbos are cool but not 20,000 hard earned dollars cool. CP all the way, especially since it’s a ragtop.
Jeep related: when I first bought my ZJ a few years ago to replace my little S10 daily driver, it was the first vehicle I had ever owned with an auto trans. After about a week of driving, it started to develop a slipping feeling in overdrive when it would come under load (hills or grades where it wouldn’t downshift).…
That sounds shockingly similar to a lot of the diesel forums. The early Cummins 5.9 engines have a dowel pin in the timing case that can come loose, and just about every owner has it listed in their mods boldly “killer dowel pin killed.” That’s great and it will save your engine, but it’s not difficult and definitely…
Some of the Jeep and offroading forums can be ridiculous at times, with guys who have really decent rigs posting some far out in left field advice. The one that sticks in my mind is a long drug out battle on one of the Jeep forums dealing with whether or not you actually need a catalytic converter and a downstream O2…
“Dieselgate’s never going to end, is it?”
Could that have been due to higher altitude and lower air density?
That’s the Nissan we actually need.
I honestly miss how thrifty and fun that Escort was. A Jetta like yours would be awesome to pick up, but unfortunately forces over which I have no control have said “NO MORE.” Apparently a Jeep and 3 pickup trucks in the driveway parked around her car is a little too much.
I had heard that the telltale sign it was a Volkswagen was something similar to this.
But I want the thrill of dodging kangaroos while trying to outrun the coppers with their møøsemøbile! Don’t crush my dreams!
New plans for this week:
My second car was a ‘95 Escort 5 speed! Thrashed that thing mercilessly, it was a fun slow car. I’d like to maybe get an early 2000s TDI for commuting but I’m still not completely sure about it yet.
Very true! The torque of a diesel is pretty forgiving when you’re first learning and there’s nothing like starting in 2nd gear at stoplights. Smaller gas cars are definitely trickier to learn on and master.
