Fair enough, I guess the only one I’ve ever had experience with went from drive to second. I would think that would really lunge, but I’ve never had to do it fortunately.

I know around where I live, some of the dump trucks on the road are former milk trucks that were pretty well abused during their service careers. It’s a shame that it’s so hard to report major safety violations.

I’ll trust your expertise over my guessing. The biggest truck I run is still hydraulic brake equipped, so I’m pretty unfamiliar with larger trucks. I was mistaken regarding the air pressure usage for brakes.

Good info! I’m not in the trucking industry, so I’m not 100% familiar with all the brake components on a larger truck. I just knew that the brakes are a positive air system (I think that’s what it’s called) so I knew it wasn’t air related. I agree, something like this should have been noticeable either in his pre-trip

On a truck equipped with air brakes, it takes air pressure to release the brakes rather than pressure to engage them. So if a line blows out or some other part fails and releases air pressure, the brakes will lock up (this is why you sometimes will see the skid marks of semis on the highway). In this case, it had to

“...normal wagons are always great, just FYI”

I wish I could star that more than once. Every time I’ve driven through Wyoming I wonder if it’s even a state or just a large area of land that everyone refuses to live on.

5th gear: I really hope response to the Comanche concept it strong. Some of the ideas (roof lines) on it are a little ugly, but ultimately it’s an economical diesel Jeep trucklet. It would be great to see one on the market next to a larger Wrangler truck.

I envy all of your salt free Wyoming vehicles. Some people have all the luck!

Nebraska would mean it really is a relatively rust free car, not a rust bucket hiding under bondo. I believe they don’t use road salt in the wintertime (or in very limited quantities if the do).

NP providing the little diesel is a clean swap. If there is some jankiness hiding deep down in the mounting of the motor I would change my vote. Overall it looks clean, A/C could be added, the motor is simple to work on, and it’s an econominded diesel manual. Not a bad deal at 3,000.

This should be a serious candidate for COTD

No worries. It was my mistake in the wording of the original post that caused confusion.

Yay! My story that shows just how girlfriend-less I was in high school made it onto Countersteer! Today is a good day.

In hindsight, it’s poorly worded. I identified it as an injector (which it was) and another kid in the class, for what reason I don’t know, was convinced it was a spark plug. He was pretty talented at being wrong and then making more arguments to back up his false points.

I guess I have a blank space on my calendar, I could go to this.

I was joking about the Camaro part, but I don’t think there is anyway to stop stereotypes on different cars. Car people are competitive and will always make some sort of comment about a rival car. You’ll never get away from that, no matter what you drive. It’s just something you have to come up with a clever rebuttal

I’m just saying, cheap car with meh performance. Some of the crowd that owns them fits a stereotype that became exaggerated. The mullet joke is a car guy joke, if you can’t laugh at it then you’re probably driving a 3rd Gen Camaro.

They absolutely hounded me (but then again, I was on the other side of the country not getting my mail), which I thought was strange. I found out later that they were actually facing some fines around this time over a poor fix rate. They must have really been putting some heat on people that hadn’t brought there Jeeps

It’s because the shit-tastic 3rd Gen Camaro can be had for 2,000 smackers making them the hot rod of choice for the cool guy in the trailer park.
