You linked to a psychology experiment designed to deceive students of “wine science” that concluded “visual cues can effectively override our senses of taste and smell .“

Haha- there are even truthers on blog posts about cheap wine. I’m audibly chuckling at my desk. Sheesh.

Oof. I know this is a finance blog but as a former manager of a somewhat high end small chain with a very accomplished sommelier on staff, I can tell you firsthand that the cheapest wine of a particular varietal is bought based on bulk discount on account of the volume. The second cheapest is going to be ordered about

“This is a man who feels no need to listen to anyone else because his own feelings are the ultimate authority. I cannot think of anyone else that reminds me of.”

This is the best argument I’ve read on the internet in a long while. I’m sharing this with everyone I know. WELL DONE.

There sure are a lot of arguments that are akin to “STICK TO SPORTS” and quit talking about legislation affecting personal finance on a personal finance blog.... sheesh.

Angry Drew is by far and away the Best Drew.

“Table runner”? Were you a host, Drew? Did you tell people it was to hang out with the hostesses?

This is really great Amanda! I worked in restaurants for 15 years so the value of prep and timing doesn’t escape me. But that said- I picked up some great tips from this: order a fresh turkey the day of instead of letting one slack out for days in your refrigerator, label serving dishes ahead of time, do sides in two

Just a terrible take. Give the Mathers LP, The Shady LP and The Eminem show a listen. Rock Bottom, Mosh, White America, Like Toy Soldiers, The Way I Am... hell even The Real Slim Shady and My Name Is comments on social trends, selective outrage and misdirected energy.

Fall=Football because Summer+Football=Death Heat in 80% of the country.

I love/hate the Bears installment of this annual series. There’s real truth but the homer in me dies a little reading it.

33 year old and a basketball fan for about 25 of them- never once have I felt a “mystique” around the Knicks, nor have I ever seen them form a legitimately interesting/competitive team.

I wish this weren’t noteworthy. I want a simulcast where announcers can talk about how bad players are, let the profanity fly and not whitewash every dumb thing the leagues do.

I’ve read this before. This is the Harvey Dent story. The Batman is near.

I hope this doesn’t fall into the positive association/nostalgia category but.... I grew up in Texas and during the summer it is so bloody hot, so bloody humid that it can be hard to drink anything that isn’t an ice cold American light lager (Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors Light etc.) On the hottest of Texas days, you

    So good.

HamNo, you’re jumping to conclusions, no? Just today the Obamas announced a $2 million donation to after school programs in Chicago. Should they forego opportunities to amass wealth and therefore, the opportunities to use disposable dollars to affect change? As a progressive, am I supposed to pass on lucrative

This had to be the first “hot basketball take” in response to a student of Naismith’s.
