It's kind of funny that they reference metabolic syndrome. I was recently diagnosed with it, and my initial reaction was "it feels like someone took all the horrible things people said to me in high school and made it a disease."

The worst part of how we view fat is that it's completely subjective. No one is truly immune to being degraded by being called fat. Look at (the great social experiment) Jersey Shore - the minute one of the girls does something a guy doesn't like, she's "ugly and fat." It's the go to insult for any immature argument…
