Culberson lived his childhood dream! As he put it, “I did that.” I think that’s awesome.

Minnesota hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years, get outta here with that nonsense

Meanwhile, the Pistons took the last 5 years to put together absolutely nothing.

You guys don’t get to be on the sixers side now. You will forever be on the wrong side of history.

Philly.com has that pay model now, too. And the writing/editing generally sucks. And the comments sections is a fucking dumpster fire. The timing of that pay model for them made it subscribing to the Athletic easy for me.

No. No, it’s really not. Don’t be dumb.

Is it that amazing? Since that 2014 draft, I’d argue there’s only been one “sure thing franchise guy,” and he went #1 in a year the Sixers picked third. Beyond Towns, we’re looking at a still-small pool of guys with All-Star or better potential but questions about health, fit, or development (plus the undefinable

Umm, the fact they are willing to offer up $30 million if it happens doesn’t sound like they think it’s a plausible outcome. POSSIBLE, sure, but that’s because pretty much anything that isn’t barred by the laws of physics is possible.

I mean, yeah, I see what you’re saying. But holy cow, I can’t believe the former Gawker Media Group is being critical of SBN for editorial issues. After all, how’d that “professionalized editing process” work out for you guys when you outed that Conde Nast executive for no apparent reason a while back? I seem to

And that’s awesome. Good for you for never having been taught the word when you were too young to consider its impact on others.

I used the word interchangeably with ‘fuckhead’ until after high school. Then I realized that wasn’t a word anyone should use. My experience is that there were a ton of people growing up that

The quotes served to indicate that I am not going to put an asterisk on the fact that he killed himself and we should somehow be okay with this. It doesn’t matter what he did to get where he was, ANY time someone decides their only option is suicide is a tragedy. Full stop.

Kindly fuck off. Society failed Hernandez so hard, that he only got a free ride to college...where he then (allegedly) bought $15K worth of guns, beat a bar employee to the point of deafness, (allegedly) committed a drive-by, and had God knows what else covered up by Meyer and the coaching staff there.

He then gets

Sorry dude, but this is a ridiculous, overly simplistic argument and you should feel bad for making it.

He drafted MCW not MKG, also he traded him for a future Lakers pick (potentially #4 overall this year). Noel was (Still is) a good pick and should be part of the Sixers future plans. The biggest knock on Hinkie’s picks (Okafor) is very strongly rumored to not be his pick at all. (Even at the time it didn’t seem like

He flipped MCW for great value and the Noel pick was fine. You can retroactively criticize every GM in history if you parse their draft picks for players they “missed”

Yeah some of the players drafted later turned out to be better players, but the entire theory is that no one can possibly know with any certainty whether their pick is the best value, and so the best way to guarantee success is to have as many as possible. For all the “Well, this guy got taken 5 picks later!”

I agree the execution was lacking. But the Sixers didn’t draft MKG. Maybe you meant MCW? If so, Hinkie flipped him for the the Lakers pick. MCW is playing his way out of the league, and if he’s anything more than an 8th or 9th man on a good team, count me as surprised.

Just your annual reminder that MLB has nothing to do with the HOF. Even Rose- “banned” from baseball by MLB- is only not available to be voted for based on the HOF’s decision, not MLB’s.

Selig, Torre, Cox and LaRussa . . . 4 people who benefitted greatly from PED use and are in the HOF. Additionally, there are a bunch who are in now who likely used modern-day (that is, not greenies) PEDs.

MLB and the Hall of Fame have ruled on the Steroid Era! All of those records are official and every player appears on the ballot (unlike Pete Rose). They also just elected Bud F’n Selig. If that isn’t a tacit endorsement to not hold the Steroid Era against anyone I don’t know what is. Enough with this grandstanding
