Storm spotting (not chasing, big diff). Every year the Oklahoma sky cracks open for a few months and says "fuck you" in the most gorgeous way possible. I'd love to be part of the early warning system out here, help people hit the deck a little earlier, plus get to see some really awesome weather.

The Taliban got up to similar shenanigans way back. Blew up the Sitting Buddhas, and filmed it.

The stutter in the original line delivery is what sold it for me. I need to go watch that, now.

33 statute miles west of Whore Island.

I usually prefer forks and knives. I tried eating with John Goodman, but he was so unwieldy I just didn't get the novelty.

Went from creepy, legit terrifying implacable force of fuck you to over played internet meme so gradually (near instantly) I couldn't help but notice.

It's cool! I know you well enough from your presence here to figure it was miscommunication.

I was thinking more in line of the asshats lining streets in Birmingham Alabama with ax handles to prevent school integration and beating up protesters, specifically when I said "real, actual, people", not the region as a whole. The Democratic party held on for a good long while not upsetting that particular boat, but

"It's all the ultimate end result of 35+ years of encouraging pride in ignorance and disparaging competent governance. They're reaping what they sowed."

AH THINK MAHKY MAHK IS A PERFECTLY CRAWMULENT PAHFAHMAH!

Ah, Infiniti, or as I called them when I worked for them: Nissans with fake wood glued to the dash and a 50% mark up.

I would have gotten away with it too, if not for those meddling God and Jesus fellas.

You do know STEM propaganda is your best chance to get your beloved Alphonse, right?

If you can, I suggest hunting down From the Earth to the Moon, that HBO miniseries no one remembers done by the folks that did Apollo 13. Episode 8: "Spider" about the LEM development is one of my favorite episodes.

The problem with using Apollo 13 as the barometer is they purposefully upped the drama factor. Listening to the audio recordings from the actual mission, every stays on an even keel. I personally have no problems with raising the stakes (Lovell himself laughed and said if the ship HAD bopped around under the descent

Keep in mind all Hubble photos have their colors exaggerated, and Mars is not actually all that red. I found the shots of Earth from Hermes and the orbital and wide angle shots of Mars breathtaking, incorrect red color notwithstanding.

I think "grandeur of space" went out the window during the Shuttle program. Space is a place where work gets done. That's just the evolution of exploration. There was a time the shitty little patch of Oklahoma dirt my house sits on was an arduous, dangerous journey away from anywhere else, now it's just a place where

Dear god I'm not alone!

I agree, but would add that the moral courage to take responsibility for one's behavior is the primary redeeming factor in my life. I don't dump on those that don't in most cases, but those that do earn a little more of my respect and admiration, because it's so difficult sometimes.
