Not unless you're talking about 'Under the Western Freeway'.

Also, Bottin was only 22 at the time.
I think the idea was to highlight some lesser known talents. If you pay attention to comics outside of superheroes you probably already know who Lynda Barry is. Also wanted to say how cool it's been to see Zainab writing for the AV Club on the reg. Everyone here should check out her blog, Comics and Cola. It's awesome.
Got snowed in and watched a double feature of the original Assualt on Precinct 13 and The Rover. The Rover might actually be one of my favorite movies of 2014. Wish I had gotten around to seeing it while it was in theaters for about a week there. Just a really good stripped-down and brutal post-apocalypse type movie.
Just out of curiosity, why do you feel like manga and euro comics are out of your reach? Also, you can totally skip Bottomless Belly Button if it means reading more Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez.
Yeah, your right. Better to stick with New Young Avengers or whatever Marvel and DC are crapping out this week.
Shouldn't you be writing your weekly truther newsletter?
The Arsène Schrauwen snub is dissapointing (Seriously, check out this book. It's weird and beautiful and unlike anything else out there and nobody is talking about it.) but otherwise it's a pretty solid list.
Sounds like you're talking about Celebrated Summer by Chuck Forsman.
Graham himself said that even he thinks he got a little carried away with the world building in the first mini-series and kind of neglected the story. I'm pretty sure I remember him saying that the next mini-series, which he's working on now, will have more of a narrative drive. His Tumblr and WordPress are both…
My only gripe is the absence of Prophet. I'm assuming there's a separate column coming for graphic novels/art comics. Hopefully Arsène Schrauwen will end up on that list because that comic is a stone cold masterpiece.
Just finished Arsène Schrauwen which I'm pretty sure has my vote for best comic of the year. This was such a crazy good year for comics.
I kind of prefer the three worst people on the planet to be not so chummy.
Care to share a link of Alan Moore saying anything remotely close to "films can't compare to the artistry of comics"? Cause that shit straight up never happened.
Oliver Stone deserves no credit for anything ever.
The Furry Trap is so horrific and awesome. There's stuff in that book that you'll wish you could un-see. The last story in particular makes me shudder every time I think about it.
I thought the two recent Nemo graphic novels were kind of a return to the reference heavy adventure comics of League Vols. I and II. Then again I really enjoyed both Black Dossier and Century so maybe it's just me.
Anyone else headed to SPX this weekend? (crickets)
I've also been watching a bunch of 70's and 80's De Palma and am really taken with his Hitchcock-as-genre movies (Sisters, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out). Last night I watched Raising Cain and that movie is fucking bananas. The camp is pitched at a higher level than most De Palma films (which is saying something) and it…
Horse Stories by Dirty Three should work as well.
