I don’t think he was “self-deputizing” anything, whatever the fuck that means, he removed a blatantly illegal thing.  If he’d found a packet of cocaine sitting on the hood and thrown it away, you think he would have been arrested?

What law do you think he broke? By the way, it is definitely against the law to kick someone’s ass!

The part of the property he touched was illegal. Why shouldn’t he touch that? What property rights does a person have in a blatantly illegal thing?

What is the flex you are going for here?

That they existed before Twitter and will exist after it doesn’t negate the concern that many of them are feeling over having this thing that is presently important to their ability to make a living being damaged. It is a very weird flex to be this defensive over your “enjoyment” of watching Twitter burn.  Like, is it

Why do the “general industrialist things” (whatever that means) not count for bad things?  Are they not really bad things?

I mean, I always vote for Democrats no matter what, but I’d have to see some evidence for even them being willing to consider ending this.

I’m not sure any of that is because of regulations. Health care is expensive in the U.S. because it is primarily a private, for profit adventure, because everyone will need medical care at some point, because medical care is often expensive (and more than most people can pay out of pocket) meaning an insurance system

Seems like your beef is with the state minimum insurance amount, not with the “moran” who (seemingly quite understandably to me) purchased the minimum amount.

We’re considered a first-world, developed country, huh?

I will just say that for an actual 19 year old, 16 can really feel like a long time ago (among other things going from 16 to 19 represents like 16% of your life to that point).

They are human made rules, not immutable laws of nature.  He’s not talking about creating or destroying energy or anything.

I was responding to a comment that sure looked like it was comparing colonial legacies. Again, if that’s not what you meant, fine, but I don’t think my reading was unreasonable.

I mean, I didn’t say that Britain’s colonial legacy was the only horrific event in human history, so I guess I’m not sure what your point is.  I’m glad you’re excited though!  My experience is it’s easy to be excited about the state of humanity when you yourself are very comfortable.

Not wholly true. And they could have conducted themselves otherwise, which they did in a few cases.

Lol, like, yeah, if you’re pointing out that murder and drunk driving and running a red light, while all illegal, are different degrees of “wrong.” But trying to defend the horrific colonial legacy of Britain by trying to compare it favorably to the horrific colonial legacy of Belgium or the horrific colonial legacy

Can we not make colonial atrocities a fucking dick measuring contest? Colonialism was bad, it led to horrific atrocities that were bad. Whether it’s Belgian Congo, French Algeria, or British Kenya, it was all horrific, and there’s not an excuse for any of it, and certainly not “Well, it wasn’t the worst it could have

Lol, u srs bro? https://slate.com/technology/2022/09/queen-elizabeth-dead-twitter-jokes-memes-british-colonialism.html. I learned a couple things from that article, I suspect you’ll learn A LOT. A preview:

The monarch of the British Empire since 1953?  Are you aware of British history since then?  Are you aware of how she came into her enormous unearned wealth, and how much of it she has given back to the people it was taken from?

Love this as a concept. Anyone who has ever benefited, in any way, from injustice, can never criticize anyone else who has benefited from injustice, even people who literally presided over injustice, whose wealth/privilege/power from that injustice is ENTIRELY UNEARNED (which is probably not the case for almost anyone
