Another win for politicians being good only if it's in their naked self-interest.

I couldn't read the whole piece, but what was available to someone without a New Yorker subscription didn't seem that sexist. And it certainly wasn't solely about her being unattractive. I say this as someone who doesn't like Franzen either. I assume his comment was a personal dig at Bruni rather than a claim that

Anybody who hasn't watched this should watch the whole thing, it's from his most recent (I think) show called 'Carpet Remnant World'.

This is a silly thing to say. You've just eliminated any credibility you may have had by openly admitting to endorsing (via your support of this particular business) all the things you claim to oppose. It's self-defeating and hypocritical. Why should I care what you say if you you oppose sexism, homophobia and general

Reading the Daily Mail, giving them page-views and advertising revenue, actively works against the stuff you're normally fighting for, namely the equitable treatment of women and LGBT people. They're not going to change if you keep on buying their product.

One of my friends licked my eye once. Didn't seem particularly noteworthy at the time. We were bored, obviously.

I feel like little Tanner's not been paying much attention to the bits about non-violence and loving your enemy when in church.

...That first guy is called Marcos Garcia. What. I don't understand.

The American national anthem is the worst one I've ever heard. It has a lot of competition because they're pretty much all shit but the American one stands out even among them.

Pretty sure you just quoted the American political definition of liberalism back at me. This is also complicated by a historical change in that when the term "liberal" was first used, the conservatives opposed that. Modern conservatives now seek to preserve what was then called "liberal". Ish, assuming we take

..."Spazzing"? Really?

Liberal means liberal, as in laissez-faire ("let them do" or something along those lines) and is generally opposed to government intervention. The American political definition doesn't make much sense.

No, it means a very different thing in the US than it does everywhere else.

How is it that Americans make such a big song and dance about limiting federal power but absurdly draconian local laws are all fine and dandy?

Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been announced. If you missed the first one, it was pretty awesome. That's about the only one I can think of. Other than maybe Metroid for the WiiU. Mirror's Edge 2 I think has been announced too actually.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY. Kinja's taking lessons from the NSA clearly.

...Pretty sure this site had an article about his girlfriend yesterday doing exactly what you've just described. And you forgot that you were criticising the media attention she was getting after the first paragraph and just joined in. What exactly gives you the right to invade her privacy by posting excepts from

It always make me laugh in this country when celebrity chefs rail against battery chickens and then talk about how great foie gras is.

That sounds like it'd be fair use to me. Bit extreme to sue the guy.

You're attributing an awful lot of the blame for economic and criminal inequity to unequal enforcement of minor drug laws (although I understand and agree with the argument that this turns into much greater inequity later). I'm not saying I disagree, just that it's interesting. What would your proposed solution be?
