I really feel like there should be more of a punishment when a major newspaper publishes a completely false story.

We have an obsession with sex in general, and not just when Muslims are having it. Any group seen to have unusual or different attitudes to sex and gender is going to get some attention drawn to their sexual practices. See the attitudes to Orthodox Jews and sex, fundamentalist christians and sex, muslims and sex, gays…
There was a bit of a fuss in Saudi Arabia recently because they've finally allowed women to work... but only in lingerie stores. Previously they used to be staffed by men, which kind of broke a bunch of the modesty rules and people weren't too keen on. The male lawmakers, presumably torn between not having their wives…
Why would that be really cool?
I object to random sequels, but I'm in favour of female leads in an area (sci-fi) where there's traditionally a lack of them. Dilemma :(
Wow. It really is amazing that people don't understand that tweets aren't private messages. I hope this comes back and bites him on the ass. Moreso than it already has I mean.
The best trolling-advice-columnists was one in some shitty lads mag like Nuts or Zoo, where someone had written in asking about donkey punching. The (female) advice-giver lectured him on how it was wrong and degrading to women. Many lols were had.
Surely all these lawsuits will be tossed out for the reasons given in the article? Hardly seems worth the money.
Both my grandmothers had dementia (of one form or another), and after watching her mother slowly disappear due to Alzheimer's, my mum's already mentioned that she'd rather die on her own terms, well before she's forgotten who she is or who her children are.
Aha, can't argue with that. I think I may have just over-interpreted what you said. I agree that no field should police itself and there's a need for outside voices. Cheers for clarifying.
That doesn't really explain your objections any better. What kind of experimentation?
What ethical concerns are these?
Some guy was earning $150,000 a year but "a modest inheritance" meant he could quit that job to become a nurse and earn $50,000 a year instead? What was he spending his money on before and just how "modest" was this inheritance?
Organic foods are NOT pesticide free. They use "natural" pesticides.
Awesome. Much of the anti-gay legislation and feeling is one of the many wonderful legacies of colonialism. The law banning homosexuality in India (almost related?) was introduced under the British Empire (and struck down in 2009, although apparently it wasn't really used up to that point).
"I'm sorry for offending one person; now in my apology, I'm going to offend 6,700,000,000 instead."
She's one of those people that really disabuses you of the notion that people who share (loosely) your political positions (/labels) are necessarily nice or smart.
I know there are plenty of valid reasons for many women to not feel safe around men, and object to the modern visions of masculinity, but I can't help but feel a little bit offended by you saying you're "pretty hardcore anti-men". I know it's a generalisation and you might not be referring to me personally, but given…
Necrotizing fasciitis is uncommon (there are about 600 cases a year). It's not becoming a trend, it's just the media jumped all over this case after the other one a few days ago. Both of which happened to be cases that would tug on the heart strings of the public...
I was going to complain about scientific ignorance , but if people who are scientifically illiterate aren't having children I guess I don't really have anything to complain about.
