That makes sense from an accounting perspective - good to know (though given Musk's complicated relationship with abiding by securities regulations, let’s just say it wouldn’t surprise me terribly to find out one day that these financial results DID benefit from some “creative accounting”)

What a time to be alive!

Some comments have pointed out that 1) the interior and materials in Teslas leave much to be desired for a “luxury” product (not even talking about fit-and-finish); 2) the entire lineup is pretty long-in-tooth, which means that the costs of the tooling, setup, design work, etc. have largely been recouped, and they can

It is pretty amazing how much of a turnaround Toyota/Lexus has experienced since Akio Toyoda took the reins - from a line-up of 4-wheeled-Melatonin with no sports cars, to lineups with the LFA, LC500, Supra, 86/FRS, GR Yaris and Corollas, etc., and a place where even the Corolla has been imbued with some sportiness.

After the last one (ZZW30) being called the MR-S, why not MrX?

That’s tough... Hope you find a welcoming and vibrant community that doesn’t cost an arm and leg...

Huge bingo - there's no "one size fits all" answer. Some places and situations, renting makes sense (though if you don't plan to move cities, it is preferable to have your own place).

There are reasons why this isn’t necessarily correct (and I used to subscribe to that view):

I hear that - I am renting 2 parking spots in my condo garage (one for my summer car, one for my wife’s car). The upshot is that there’s parks and green space nearby, though it’s not “your own space” like a backyard. And doing the winter tire changes in an underground garage is a bit more comfortable than it was when

Username tells me you and I are facing pretty different situations - I do think it depends on how bad the prices are in your city - Toronto is not too bad if you’re not down in the core (I’m renting a 800-900 sq ft 2br for $2,550 per month, but it’s still accessible by transit).

As a former detached-home dweller, I do see the attraction of a nice yard and patio - but between the water wasted on keeping grass green, and the joy of not needing to tend to the lawn (or shovel snow), the apartment/condo life turned out more agreeable than I thought it would.

That sucks... I hope you find a good place that’s vibrant but also affordable.

    Hear hear!

Many of the people who consider themselves recalcitrant suburbanites would quickly change tunes if they ever spent time living in urban centers. Once you’re there, you realize that contrary to alarmist/sensationalist accounts/reports, the streets aren’t filled with blight, undesirables and violence.

TBF, tires remain an issue for EVs (particularly “upscale/premium” EVs with their 18/19/20in wheels). With the increased weight and torque, tires wear down faster (which are based on petroleum products), and tire particulate matter is a pollutant as well. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t move towards BEVs (where it

It probably helps that Tesla's lineup hasn't undergone any major revamp. No need for clean slate designs probably means they get more out of their existing tooling/facilities.

Maybe they just really need someone to.... “lend a hand”?

Not the response I had in mind when I say “unhand me!”

When Tesla released the video, Musk tweeted, “Tesla drives itself (no human input at all)

Learned this the hard way.... Steam clean and detail all you want.. That smell won’t leave.
