Throw a set of RPF1s with some stickier tires on there for a good time. I find the light weight wheels make a noticeable difference with a car this small and low-powered.

Haha, my wife’s “big” family hauler is a 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback... We are allergic to CUVs/SUVs.
I should have noted it’s $40 Canadian dollars, but damn, a Honda Today would Fit the bill just fine (I’m sorry)
I remember filling up my ‘08 Honda Fit manual, when a guy with an Odyssey noticed the childseats in my car, and struck up conversation that started along the lines of “you’ve got kids, you need a minivan!” - then he asked me how much a tank of gas cost me. “About $40 for a full tank of 87 octane”
Couldn’t they just blast the national anthem when you floor it?
That’s my current (pun unintended) situation as well.
I think solar is definitely something I’d be interested in when (if?) I buy a home with a garage. There’s also an added benefit where I live that the bulk of our electricity is from hydroelectric sources rather than coal. Our utilities are (at least substantially) government-owned and regulated.
Yup - hybrid is probably the more flexible option (I’m the same garage/charger situation as you). My parents had a Prius at one point, and I remember they mentioned going out to gas up about once every 2 months (of course, YMMV)
I’m in Southern Ontario, so we’ve been paying ~CAD1.60/L (roughly CAD6.00/gal) so we aren’t far off!
I think I’ll be willing to keep a gas-only car for a fun/weekend car, but for the daily that gets the commute duties, I agree, it’s gotta be hybrid or EV.
You’d think a guy who loves being photographed shirtless doing lumberjack things or playing with bear cubs, or polar-skinnydipping would be a little bit more open-minded.....
Tangentially, I’ve never really considered an EV (partly as a consequence of not having access to good charging options in my building), but between Razputin, the Saudis (or really just the whole Gulf states), Venezuela, etc., my wife and I are seriously considering one for the first time.
I’m gonna do this so the other commenter who’s usually on-top of this doesn’t have to:
...and now that the ruble has tanked, they’ll just need to convert THAT many more rubles to make bail....
Wow - so maybe they do have capacity for self-awareness!
How do you say “Operation Valkyrie” in Russian?
That damn song is stuck in my brain now...
I have a Germanic counter-offer:
I test drove a buddy’s 2017 Civic HB and it did what you described when I signalled and pulled left into a median left-turn lane.
