I just think Lego movie and both jump street movies also on paper should have been terrible and they turned those properties into something really fun and clever. I think a Han Solo prequel is also something that stinks and they could have turned into something really fun and clever. Maybe it wouldn’t have saved it

Yeah, I don’t think they are bad movies I just much dig Edgar Wright’s style so much. So it’s really a personal thing. I saw both Ant-man movies in theaters but rewatching them doesn’t really do anything for me. Most Edgar Wright movies I can watch on repeat

Yeah I’m totally with you. All their projects on paper sound like duds but they hit it out of the park every time. I’ll also take a big swing and a miss over just an okay movie any day.

Nah Lord and Miller were not unlike a pick Kevin Feige would have made for Marvel. Directors with a lot of heart who were gonna bring their own vision to an already established universe. Instead, we got a pretty ok but mostly forgettable movie.

I would say all Lord and Miller’s projects are way better then they have any right to be. I mean Lego Movie and 22 Jump Street are way better than they have any right to be. (The Spider-verse screenplay alone is a great read) Maybe they wouldn’t have saved the movie but I also think them and Kasdan are just verrrry

I did! And I do like that one a lot more than I like the first one.

I like Wasp as much as the next guy but Ant-man compared to any of Edgar Wright’s films is pretty bland.

Yeah I think if we had gotten Lord and Miller’s vision we would have had a much tighter more meaningful film and word of mouth would have gotten people excited to see it.

Very similar experiences here. Brought the whole family plus some extended family to Force Awakens and Last Jedi, but none of them seemed excited about a prequel - spin-off.

Yeah releasing that close to Infinity War was a mistake.

Yeah there is a ton of valid complaints about GoT, but also a ton of “Why didn’t my character do this wish fulfillment thing”

I think part problem with online discourse, is that twitter gives this super small easy to digest opinions that people eat up and stand by without thinking about it for more than 10 seconds. All nuance is thrown out the window and what should be “funny joke lets move on” become serious opinions.

YES. The discourse around this show became so exhausting and absolutely everywhere.

Quote from the man himself. Also, stories are rarely ever planned out like that. I’m sure they had a basic outline. They always say each movie was supposed to be about one of the original trilogy characters (Han, Luke, and Leia in that order). Plus the creative process is superfluid. No writer writes one draft and

I see this take all the time but I will truly never understand it. To me, the Last Jedi was a ton of what I loved about Star Wars as a kid and had a ton of cool new stuff that we hadn’t seen before.

Also, fans do still tend to react badly when you change their “beloved” characters into something more modern and clever: See Iron Man 3.

I don’t think it’s fair to say it is the orignal 3's story still but more like each movie is the story about how each character’s legacy affects the next generation of Star Wars. They’ve said many times that each of the new movies was supposed to belong to one of the original 3 characters: Force Awakens was Han, Last

Yeah I got points for the second one and not the first. Go figure the guy that won was also the one who organized it and counted the first one as wrong. Then he ended up beating me by 10 points (The question counted as 150). Very salty and probably something we will argue about until the day one of us dies.

Saving this quote for anytime someone tries to say they were just making it all up as they go.

Yeah definitely not expecting to like to but very excited to try it.
