He'll probably have a reduced role. S4 had the same problem - some of the regulars couldn't actually be "regulars" because of contractual obligations elsewhere (I think Tony Hale was one of them because of Veep, which is why Buster's storyline was so detached).

Diane and Lilith both fit in well on "Frasier." I also like the direction they took with Woody's solo episode - opting for a more realistic portrayal of how those two characters would evolve (i.e. apart), rather than pure nostalgia.

That phrase is trademarked. You now owe Taylor Swift $25,000,000 for the usage rights in this comment.

Time to reboot!!!

No no, it's the police officer who wouldn't answer Chekhov's question about the "nuclear wessels." That's who Idris Elba is going to play, actually.

I imagine it was a combination sagging ratings (down over 50% in the last season finale) and Betty White's age. She's become noticeably more immobile in recent episodes, and I'm sure she wants to retire or scale down her workload pretty soon.

My big complaint about The Search for Spock is that it's just one big, lazy reset button in general. They took all the big, consequential events of the previous movie (Spock dying, the Genesis Planet, Kirk adjusting to having a son) and built a story out of reversing them.

I didn't think he was too bad, under the circumstances. I'm guessing they had a script already prepared (or partly prepared) when Jones was given the gig, because he sounded like he was doing his best Jon Stewart impression.

Bruce's age (12?ish), and the early 2000s flip phones and cars all make me think that there'll be a time jump to present-day at some point to allow Batman's debut.

Which one? One of the many comic book variations of Batman? DCAU Batman? Nolan Batman? West Batman? Shumacker Batman? Burton Batman? Snyder Batman?

There was a more subtle one - the frat boy being held by the Penguin. His mom doesn't believe that he's being held for ransom because of all his "antics," and the Penguin looked crazy enough to cut him up something fierce.

My working theory is that they're plotting a 10-15 year time jump to 'present day' at some point, based on pre-iPhone cell phones, the SUV that the Penguin steals (wouldn't be admired by the guy with the trailer much today), and the fact that it would age Bruce up to an appropriate age to be Batman.

Agreed. In terms of beginnings, this feels like the anti "Agents of Shield." Gotham is trying to be interesting out of the gate, even if all the elements aren't there yet.

I watched both episodes tonight with low expectations, but came out pleasantly surprised. I think the show is trying to work around the 'Gotham without Batman' stigma by introducing as many 'known' elements of the universe as possible, and (for the moment), the character moments are being shoved aside in favor of

Camren Bicondova, the actress who plays Catgirl, is only 15, which means there are restrictions on when and how long she can be on set each day. Hard to work around on a 42-minute series. Same with the Bruce scenes.

The ONLY way I'd be okay with Lauer taking over Jeopardy is if Trebek moves on to narrate a new version of The Twilight Zone.

Give everyone four hours off!

I wonder what was in his "special book" in real life.
