Has anyone outside of the academy and Oldman’s immediate family even seen Darkest Hour? It looks like the most boring middlebrow snoozefest ever, and that’s not even taking into consideration that both Dunkirk and Churchill were done within the last couple of years.

Uggghhhh, you suck.

You’re either overly pedantic or willfully obtuse. Economics isn’t physics, nothing is absolute. Sorry I forget to add the word ‘tends’ somewhere in there. Either way, we’ve both made our points, I suppose.

IBM has a share price of over 150 dollars, it’s doing ok. Sun was bought by oracle, which does the same thing, and is also huge. So HP and an old social media company don’t exist, that’s your argument? Anyone find an example or two as evidence of anything. No one said companies, even large ones, don’t fail.

So wanting to listen to black people regarding black issues is that horrible to you? I notice you cut off the relevant “when they want to interrupt’ part of that sentence.

Please name one way white people, specifically, have been ‘sold up the river’ by the Democratic Party, and do so without sounding like a deranged, racist loon.

Yes, because a bunch of stoned 19-21 year olds have exactly the same amount of influence on our lives, politics, and economy as megalomaniacal, solipsistic libertarian billionaires.

Crony capitalism is part and parcel to free markets. A truly free market as libertarians like to fantasize about can never exist by itself. Successful businesses don’t fall into some sort of equilibrium, they behave like a mix of an alpha predator and a malignant tumor.

Being forced to buy food from a small handful of companies is a feature of a true free market system, not a bug.

Yes, obviously the only alternative to our current system is Soviet Communism.

How do you write a sentence like this and expect anyone to take you seriously?

I remember when I waited tables there was a guy that would come in all the time within the last half hour before we closed, always order prime rib, and always be shocked and furious the many times we’ve been out of it.

I think it’s the difference between straight fat (tasty) and the fat/collegen/connective tissue grossness like the stuff at the corner of a prime rib (horrifying).

They collectively bargain to get the best deal for the members, the workers that actually make businesses run. Obviously.

This is some high quality toadying right here.

This really does put the lie to the ‘free market’ argument. If its advocates really wanted the market to operate optimally, they would be for minimizing the influence of any one actor, as the main factor in market distortion is human psychology, as the whole thing depends on people behaving rationally.

You realize this is not how things actually work in 99.9% of cases.

Well, that’s obvious, but you would assume they would wake up to the reality of the situation at some point. Again, I don’t think most of these people are dumb, but it’s just amazing that the brain can become so certain of something that it dismisses all evid nice to th contrary

These statements makes a lot of incorrect assumptions.

This is such a dumb statement that it doesn’t merit a response.
