In a non continuously loaded scenario, diesel engines are terrible when they are made to not reek of exhaust stench. Which is to say, their emissions systems make them non useful in most scenarios - including off roading, town car, commuting, being a rental car, local contractor work van, are examples of non useful

There are also a lot of people who work for those dealers, get paid, and spend the money they make from the janky dealers to pay for their own life. That means they might need to pay me or you to do something for them, or fix something for them, sell them something, educate them, protect them, or otherwise provide

Probably eventually.

I mean, if it just had a proper rear hvac system...I could sort of understand. But that lack makes it a why not just buy a 100 series...

School buses only go 45 mph too, so I would think that aerodynamics would not eat range up too much, like they do on a Silverado driving 85 mph on the interstate.

You don’t need to worry about the chains on the 3.7 Mustangs. The water pump does not live with the chains in the rear wheel drive version of that engine line.

If I’d bought one before this was discovered to be a problem? I absolutely would not accept it as a repair. They can make me a new truck without that problem, gratis.

Not defending the problems, but this reads like some kind of major grounding issue.

Only the VR6 versions had DSGs in the first year of the CCs, the rest had the Toyota auto. Rare cars.

I rented a few convertible PT Cruisers. They were the low pressure turbo versions with automatics.

Have you changed the fluid yet? I hate the CVT in my work van, but it’s way less terrible after a transmission fluid drain and fill.

The Toyota hybrid is an eCVT (and most other hybrids are similar) and they are not the same thing as a non hybrid gas ‘cones and belt’ CVT.

Negative. Lol.

Remember he said a slopeback won’t work...

Funnily, the 6 speed that the 10 speed replaced, was basically a beefed up ZF 6 speed...I don’t think they had many problems with those! The 8 speed ZF is much smoother than the 6 speed ever was...the zf 6 speed had noticeable shifts and torque converter lockup characteristics.

This. They’re perfectly suited for a school bus, or garbage truck, driving at their max weight rating, under 55 mph.

I mean, that’d be awesome. But it would require a Scorpion with emissions complexity to not reek, or it would reek. And it’d usually be more expensive to fuel.

Seems like it'd be a good candidate for a Godzilla and a 10 speed, no?

I’m very much a queer human being who loves everyone and votes for democracy at all costs. But occasionally I have to eat some Hate Chicken. (To be fair, the last time I did that I got food poisoning.)

The dsg is a great automatic. But it is an automatic at the end of the day. I am so sick and tired of *not* changing gears in my DSG GTI...my next one will be a manual.
