Played it a few weeks ago. The game is still alive. One Titan server often with 64 players and a couple other servers that have a good amount of players in them. It's not alive like BF2 is, but it still lets me play a couple of games now and then!

I hope they make a 2143 expansion or stand-alone.

You may want to know the term "Abandonware" isn't at all legal, and therefore you just linked to piracy. Said term is an invention made by a group of people that somehow stuck, and the game is still protected under copyright laws.
