I'm not disagreeing, I'm just looking at it from a player who may be a lower level. All of my exotic/legendary gear needs all four materials to upgrade so I wish I would have saved it from the beginning instead of trading it in.

It is a much better idea to save those items, as you're going to need all of them to level up exotic and legendary gear.

Farming is not how you're supposed to play. Also, your loot drops get better the higher level you are, so go run some strikes if you want higher level gear.
