You don’t need to COMPLETELY rebuild systems to include those kinds of lessons in a school programme.

Back when I lived in NYC, those rare weekends away were worth their weight in gold.

imo with a big game like that the main cost isn’t money, but time.

I mentioned that because it was on one of the cards handed out by union organizers at GDC, but also, IMO it’s immoral and should probably be illegal to have 7 billion dollars sitting in your bank account. I’m just saying. I wouldn’t call myself a socialist, but unregulated capitalism and pursuit of wealth is the

Not to mention healthy online behaviors

Well said. I work at a university that includes a mandatory session during orientation on healthy relationships, boundaries, and inappropriate conduct.  This stuff needs to be taught in 9th grade, not in college.

Do you know why? It’s because these people, the people who are actually committing these violations against others, were probably bullied in high school for having nerdy or uncool interests. They didn’t have friends because who wants to be friends with the nerd? They never had the chance to develop healthy friendships

Exclusives are a way of creating competition between storefronts. Epic has drawn a line in the sand labeled 12% and now expects Steam to step up if they want games to be drawn back to their storefront. 30% is an INSANE royalty rate and they only got away with it because there wasn’t an alternative. Now there is.

thats not how competition works

This right here, “ while over a dozen followed former BioWare boss Aaryn Flynn to Improbable, a technology company that recently announced plans to develop its own game.” is what is in important. People make games not companies. What magic Bioware had is gone, but I look forward to seeing what Improbable and other

Was waiting for this. Will read later on but just wanted to say continue doing the lord’s work.

I’ve been waiting for the Schreier breakdown of how this fell apart far more than the game itself.

Yeah, I might have given Darksiders 3 a try at $30, but that 8chan thing was AWFUL and they didn’t even fire or publicly chastise anyone for it. Their “apology” was the equivalent of “woops, my bad” which makes me think very bad things about how their company is set up.

This is wonderful. I’m really glad they’ve decided to take a clear and unambiguous stand. I’m entirely sure there will be a good amount of anger about this, but that feels a lot like the trash deciding to take itself out.

My first and only interaction with r/Games was about 4-5 years ago. I was just exploring subreddits for the first time (because Reddit is largely a shitty place) and decided to see what their main gaming sub was like.

It’s a pretty ingenious move. The people who are most pissed off and inclined to misbehave can’t do anything about it all day, after which their impotent rage at “SJWs” will have subsided like a goldfish taking another lap around its bowl.

I showed this to my father, a guy who owes his life, and the life he provided for me, to the UAW, and he said it was fake news. It crushed my soul. My plumber father, a guy who worked hard so I could go to college, because he didn’t, told me that all of this reporting was fake, staged, to make Trump look bad.

I had a mild interest in Darksides...but that interest was squashed after that 8chan THQ Nordic disaster. Don’t want to give those people any money.
