A lot of it also comes down to local communities and Local Game Stores. They need to start policing bad behavior, inappropiate comments and slang terms that make non-white, non-male individuals stay away more often than not.

I run events weekly and I have had to remove a number of players for using the term “F*ggot”

I recommend installing the sanctioned mods.  They’re mods approved by the developer for use in open play by everyone.  They’re just QoL upgrades to things like the crafting and character equipping systems as well as the UI.

Give it a try anyway. It’s free play weekend on Steam and I’ve put about 6-7 hours in so far. The only grouping issues I’ve had are the occasional laggy connection and people sometimes wandering off instead of sticking with the group. I just started the second difficulty level and ran five missions with some level

Cecilia, you are undoubtedly the best working games journalist out there.

If I could recommend this more than once I would do so.

Put this review in the Smithsonian, because it's an absolute treasure.

just want to add to all the positive comments - this a was a great article and everything you write is great and also every time you post about the sims it itches something in me that makes me want to play it again even though i’m still probably burnt out on it. Anyway, the writers on Kotaku are fucking awesome. I

I have read many articles by you Gita and you have never seemed angry or trying to bait any one, I hope you keep writing about race and gender. I look forward to your next article, this was a very good read.

Your pieces always give me something to think about and I agree that it’s important to both:

Gita, thank you. I can’t say I always see eye to eye with staff writers, but I can wholeheartedly say that Kotaku is a better place for having you here and that your efforts make a difference, each and every day. Your perspectives matter and it makes all of us a little smarter, more empathetic, and wiser each read. Tha

It’s a great example of how irrational and stupid corporate leadership is. All these fucking libertarians ranting about “rational self-interest” and how “economically rational” behavior is encouraged under “capitalism” have never actually picked up a copy of Forbes. Another great example is viagra for cramps. Did you

I feel like this might be far fetched. But maybe they are hitting it’s kinda like Mountain of Madness?

hrm, think they’re just PS3 and Vita digitally, if I’m recalling correctly. At least 1 through 3. I’d have to double check for ya!

I don’t know, but if I open up EA’s Origin right now, I can buy a whole bunch of Ubisoft games, and they have their own launcher/platform. So I guess everyone else wouldn’t do the same.

I do understand the point you are trying to make, and don’t really have a problem with needing Steam for Dota. But I feel like all

Our first idea for a campaign was “universe where hillary won.”

Are there any Centrist campaigns? You know, like, is there a module where a Conservative is throwing a brown baby into a cage and then “misplacing” it, so a Leftist raises their voice in a restaurant at a politician responsible and the Centrist players have to type up the most hand-wringing “both sides tho” NYT op-ed

In to say this is good before people get mad at you.

That was never accurate, imo. The new content Beamdog whipped up (a few new characters and areas) were mostly lame, and there were a few UI changes that weren’t received well for a few patches, but the bugs and balancing changes vastly outweighed those drawbacks. The Enhanced Editions are overall excellent.

The remasters are good. They have a bad rep because of the rough launch, subpar additional content and Beamdog’s haters (manbabies, anti-sjws crowd).

The fact that you consider “including non-white characters” as something that takes effort, and feel that my ambivalence is “shitting on” these developers says a lot about you and how you see the world.
