Sort of. There’s an auxiliary oil tank under the hood with an automatic feeder on North American models, so you can also check the level on that tank under the hood. That said, the feeder system can go bad on old vans, so also checking under seat oil level is not a bad idea.

Yup. 2TZ-FE/FZE are incredibly solid. Most that die only do so because of neglect of the cooling system and the resultant overheating.
