My problem with YYZ is that is does what it sets out to do too well. It's a song about an airport, and it sounds just like a place no one would ever go to, except to get out of, as soon as possible.

0:14.  But then I'm an unrepentant Rush fan, and YYZ is one of my least favorite instrumentals to begin with.

Totally missed "Die Bart Die" - which, as every thinking person knows, means "The Bart the" in German.

Seconded.  Yeah, Jake Lloyd is cashing in, and yeah, he was awful.  Doesn't make the fact he had the crap kicked out of him (literally and/or figuratively) any less real.

I'm genuinely surprised no one here mentioned my two all-time favourite Sandmen: the two Emperors, Norton I and Augustus. Gaiman takes Norton I's madness and turns it into the noble pursuit of a dream, and makes Augustus vulnerable and human.

Contra the Wikipedia page for the movie, I don't think Hank is Donna in the book. The traffic cop specifically says she's a federal agent, and Hank works for the Orange County Sheriff's office.

Thank you, Dumbledore Calrissian, for pointing this out. I read the book in university and found it pretty weak sauce. It was much more of an argument than a story; how, exactly, they plan to make a movie of it that's in any way faithful to the book without it being a long rambling expositionfest is beyond me.

You can BitTorrent the script. And yes, Lincoln was an excellent album.

Downey as Barris was amazing, definitely. Even though the movie left out Barris' worst, the scene where they're discussing the invisible intruders planting drugs in the house made me wonder if Barris was perfectly lucid and just goading the others on for his own amusement, just as he had in the previous scene.

IIRC, I liked Palmer Eldritch, but I'm not sure if I've read it or not - I read a bunch of PKDs a year or so back and I can't remember which ones. I watched the movie and reread the book just this afternoon; I hadn't seen the movie because I despised Waking Life, and I hadn't read the book in nigh on 20 years.

I first read this in high school, and I really wish I'd stolen it. I love PKD, truly, though I find his novels tend to peter out in the last third or so: once the magnificent confusion of establishing the setting and situation is sorted out and the reader (by which I mean me) has figured out what's going on, the plot

How Dare You Even Ask This Question!
Guitar solos aren't lame! *You're* lame! *sniff* Just asking this question hurts my feelings. People who think guitar solos are lame are …poopyheads.

How did they know?
I've been waiting for this topic. Just waiting. Finally I can express my love for Ordinary People Trapped In An Evil Experiment by Evil Scientists They Never See books and films. ("Saw" does not count. "Cube" and the teen novel "House of Stairs" do.)
