I think oiling metal is one of the oldest rust preventative techniques.  All the way back to the start of the iron age.

There’s no such thing as vegan leather just like there’s no such thing as plant based meat.

And even if you could take your dog on a flight, there is no way I would trust the airlines to keep my pet safe.

Can we pause a moment and appreciate how awesome the Opel GT’s “flip-up” headlamps are? I put “flip-up” in quotes because they don’t actually flip-up.

The only possible way to make this minivan more dangerous would be to replace the airbag with a shotgun shell.

Polite disagreement.  There is a reason it’s so cheap.  It’s probably the 2nd least crash worthy minivan ever created (behind the Chevrolet Astro).  As I said in my post, you couldn’t pay me to drive one.

No dice. You couldn’t pay me to drive one of these. GM made a minivan that fails at the first job of a minivan. Keeping the family safe.

While a mediocre president, President Grant’s memoir is worth a read.  He didn’t have much good to say about Ohio.

KINJA!

Then I guess it’s time to poison Oklahoma again.

“The Deere “strikebreakers” are currently ~650 salary employees pulled from engineering & mgmt positions across Deere.

People still call them organ donors?

If Elon and Tesla thinks that German environmentalists are bothersome, just wait till they have to deal with IG Metall.

A million times this. I wish I could give you more stars.  I really wonder if Elon knew what he was getting into by picking Germany.

I am still curious about the inevitable conflict between Tesla and IG Metall.  There is simply no way that Tesla will be able to run a factory in Germany and NOT deal with IG Metall, and really the sooner they start working with them the better.  But Elon being Elon, I think it will end up being a nasty fight.  A

I don’t have a problem with the amount of taxes I pay in Texas,... they’re just not exceptionally low like people think.

I politely disagree. It may not happen this year or the next, but once the Texas factory is up and running at full speed and they have all the kinks worked out I don’t see much hope for Fremont staying open.

Our Universities don’t quite have the standing of those storied California Universities, but we do have some that are very good. UT-Austin has excellent engineering and computer science programs, UT-Dallas (where I went) also has a very solid STEM school. Then there is Rice University in Houston, and as much as love

And honestly, I am not sure about the line workers.  I think that as soon as the Texas plant they will wind down Fremont, and the line workers will have to choose between remaining in California and finding a job or moving to Texas to take a position at the new plant.
