The Devil Drives a Mustang (Rotary Pending)

Many years ago a political science professor warned me against applying my American notions of a right-left spectrum to foreign cultures. Doing so can put yourself at risk of misunderstanding world news and suppress important details. It’s a bit of advice that has served me well over the years.

Ouch, my local credit union is still advertising 3.25% for new cars and 3.75% for used cars up to 8 years old and under 85k miles, or 4.75% for used cars up to 8 years old and no mileage limit.

I wish I had made a copy, but I remember one time seeing an old car ad in a newspaper from the early 80's that proudly advertised a special rate of 10% available to well qualified buyers.

I would never actually drive one, but I admit that the 2nd generation Compass is actually handsome.

Already done. On June 20th, 2016 Bertrand Piccard flew a solar powered airplane from New York, USA to Seville, Spain.

They do have that already. Just not for regular use; as others have pointed out such an idea would add too much parasitic drag. However, airplanes are often equipped with a ram air turbine (RAT) that is deployed if the shit hits the fan and the plane loses all other on board electrical generation.

Gunshots can be awfully hard to locate, especially in an urban environment with lots of echoey buildings.

This is just the new Civic Hybrid, isn’t it?

OK, I am now curious.  I have literally not seen a “bayformers” movie since the 2nd one.  I think I saw parts of the 3rd one but I turned off the TV after the bit about “Sam finds a job” or something.  I don’t really remember.  Which movie are you talking about?

If that’s the case, good luck with that. Even if they have such dreams, it’s just not a neighborhood to support much higher rents, and it’s not a gentrification hot spot like Oak Cliff or Lower Greenville or that one stretch of Northwest Highway that used to have a bunch of strip clubs (can’t remember which stretch of

I don’t really get it in this case.  I looked up the location.  It’s not exactly high-class HOA territory.  It’s a solid lower-middle to middle class neighborhood.

So I looked up where this is. It’s near NW Highway between Skillman and Greenville Avenue on the east side of Central Expressway and South of the LBJ. It’s not the worst part of Dallas by far; it’s actually somewhat nice. But it’s not exactly million dollar mansions around there. This sounds more like the sort of

So whoever bought this, now do an LS swap.

I somewhat disagree. I think it will play out like Muscle cars did for the boomers. Some of the more popular models will go insane, but I think you will find “pockets of affordability”. Cars that for various reasons went unloved. Some examples that I don’t think will see insane rises in prices:

I remember when I got my NC. The video Mr Unknown showed is actually the exact procedure recommended in the Miata’s manual. The risk is that if the rear glass is not pushed down into the top’s storage compartment, it could get stuck as it folds.

Not 100% true on the NC and ND Miatas. Because those have a “Z-fold” top where the rear glass has to fall down into the top storage area. See Mr Unkown’s video. If you don’t push the glass down into the storage area, there is a small risk that it could bind and rip the top.

The NC (2006-2013) uses the exact same top design that the ND uses, which is what Mr Unknown posted. When I owned my NC, I could raise and lower it when buckled into the driver seat. There is a bit of a trick to it, but I could do it.

You’re the sort of person to try a wicker basket, aren’t you?

Sad thing is that even if he does release the “cheap” Model 3 at $38,000 it’s still more or less promise kept.
