Listen, I’ve given you some shit before about some of your opinions and boy do I love starring comments that take the piss out of ya. But by god is this the best article I’ve read on this site in a very long time. Great writing and a nice little love letter to one of the great gear head saviors.
Yup. I’ve been a life long GM guy but I have to give FoMoCo this one. They’re fun out of the box but have so much potential. Best part is that you could build yourself a pretty fun ride for dirt cheap and it’s still gonna be more reliable than 90% of the stuff you could buy/modify from the same era it served in.
These are already starting to blow up. Maybe they’re already at that point but hands down one of the best blank canvases to hot rod from the last 20 years. And no, I don’t mean the Marauder. I’m talking the plain Jane P71 and civilian cars. As stock of the clean low mileage ones dwindle, they’re gonna to become a hot…
The blinders around here are seriously astounding.
From Oak Creek Vista into Sedona is one of my favorite stretches of road so far. I lived in Phoenix for a few years back in the 00's. Packed a few friends into an ‘88 Brougham and took a trip up to make it to the GC by sunrise. On the way back we just decided to wing it and take 89A instead. Made it to Sedona at…
I’m lucky. My company gives me a new crew cab pickup every 8 months or so. I had a 2019 Sierra SLE last year/beginning of this year and moved to a 2020 Silverado LT in April. I quite literally switched over to a 2019 Custom Z71 5.3 this morning temporarily while we wait for the backed up 2021s to finally be delivered.
I’ve got a construction zone story.
You’re probably right, maybe I am giving the general public too much credit!
I see your point and know the utility of a van, I worked out of an Express van for a while and I personally would drive the crap out of a minivan. But alas, a minivan wouldn’t cut it for what I do. TBH though you don’t really need to think about throwing plywood over the tailgate/dropping the gate and strapping it…
I manage a department of a gov. fleet lease company. We love stocking PDs with pickups and we love the forest service contracts for this reason. We have one large and very well known department of the federal government (can’t name names here) that rents brand new 3/4 ton trucks from us every winter, puts about 500…
As a pickup truck driver myself this is a spot on, well thought out take. I drive one because I am a blue collar worker. I grew up working out of trucks. But I’m also in a way a pickup enthusiast (yes, that’s a thing, I know some around here can’t wrap their heads around it.) along with my other automotive kinks. I…
Seriously. If my daily CC 4x4 wasn’t company issued I’d seriously consider a lowering kit or I’d have some kind of adjustable set up. I have a GMC 2500 for towing and hauling already for my side business. I know it’s kind of considered sacrilege in some truck circles but I think some of the lowered 4x4's are damn…
Not that I don’t believe your story, but that’s just crazy. If you can’t figure out how to securely load 4x8 plywood in your 5.5 to 6.5" bed, you probably shouldn’t be working with tools and lumber in the first place.
Until the Platinum Collection came out in 08.
