He needed to stick a broom handle into the gears to stop time. Though, strictly speaking, he’s never supposed to do that.

One of my top five shows of all time, and while it does get a lot of acclaim from the right places, I think it deserves even more - it really deserves to be on the same pedestal as Sopranos, The Wire, the BBverse, etc. Just beautiful television.
Yes, the whole thing (other than the brilliant design of the monster) was a cut-and-paste of Dracula, with exact replicas of the characters with new names, so much so that Stoker’s widow sued for plagiarism (and won!)
Ah, right! It’s been several years since I watched Nosferatu and completely forgot about Hutter being Murnau’s equivalent of Harker. So I guess this one is really a remake of that version of the story. Makes sense as I vaguely recall reading years ago about the studio ironically locking down the rights to the unauthori…
Kudos to whoever made sure the list goes directly from How to Have Sex to Hundreds of Beavers.
Modern era? Borneaz maybe? How many long running series has he featured on? Pretty sure Buffy,Angel,Bones and Seals all easily have 100 episodes and Bones has like 250.
I think you should consider the possibility that the AV Club author was not using the language in the way you are.
Seriously, two women have won the gender neutral Best Director category in the last ten years, three in the entire 96-year history of the awards. The issue is complicagted, and I’m sympathetic to the idea of gender neutrality, but I understand where Polley and the others are coming from and I’d certainly want some…
Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t the lead in Silver Linings Playbook, but your point is a good one.
If you think the Oscars are just an outdated relic, and you dislike them so much, maybe the people who like them can just keep them as they are.
Just look at the Best Director nominees and winners. Because that’s what gender neutral awards will look like. There will be years when only men will be nominated, but a non-male will win once or twice a decade so people can point at that and say “see? There is no sexism in Hollywood!”
On the one hand, sure, why not? On the other, that doesn’t address concerns that men will dominate these categories.
You’re the one trying to steal awards from women, so that a nonbinary performer can get a courtesy nomination every few years while a cis man wins Best Performer every year.
Like fights about sports, I think it’s a mistake for transgender/gender nonconforming people to be choosing this fight. It means that, when many people are still very uncertain where they stand on gender issues, public battles are being fought on ground that is not especially favorable.
It’s also not clear if the author means that, for some people, gender expression exists on a spectrum, or for all people, gender expression falls on that spectrum. I’d expect that even many of the people willing to recognize that gender is not binary for some people consider themselves as being clearly one of two…
There should be a Best Nonbinary Performer award that is either given out like an honorary award (for years where there’s only one notable nonbinary performance), or if we get to a place where there are 3 or 4 standout performances in a given year, it can just be treated like any other category.
People should be able to choose their gender identity and pronouns and be respected for that, but the vast majority of humans, and not just cishet people, are completely comfortable with identifying as entirely one gender, so the insistence that “gender is a spectrum,” while not outright false, sure seems like an…
a gender binary that doesn’t really fit with today’s world, where most understand gender expression as existing on a spectrum rather than fixed binaries
When you’re so progressive you go backwards to men mostly winning everything.
Oh it’s way more than just Star Trek. It’s hard to find projects he stuck with for their entire run. He created Dead Like Me and then jumped ship for Wonderfalls which was promptly cancelled. He then went to Heroes but then jumped ship to go do Pushing Daisies, which I honestly think he may have stuck with if it…
