Outside Trump’s base, people are either unaware, hope elections will make things right or want the whole country to burn to ground.  Then there are people, particularly on the left, including commenters and writers on this site, who think liberals are overreacting to Trump.

I agree - calling them “the Democrats” removes the importance that it’s not just the Democrats, it’s a co-equal branch of the government where the people arguably get the best shot at representation.

Yup! And everyone just skips past that graveyard every damn day. The coup of america happened 19 years ago and everyone just accepts it.

It’s really all he has left. He’s about to tank the economy, and they were betting the farm on that being his election thingy... and since he can’t broaden his base, he’s just gonna keep feeding it, because he’s a slave to it now, and it’s all he can do.

Fighting the Democrats over this stuff feeds into the Trumpist persecution complex and is absolutely part of his re-election strategy.
