In fairness, he’s been pretty open about the fact that his co-writer did most of the work and writing. Aziz was more conceptual and editorial. But otherwise, I completely agree. It was refreshing to see from a celebrity, especially for a first book. I’d recommend the book even if he weren’t attached.

This is accurate. I’ve had waitresses literally roll their eyes at me. I had a host tell me he wouldn’t give me their gluten-free menu because I didn’t need one. I never used to get sick eating out and now I do every single time. So I gave up and now only go to dedicated gluten-free places or just stay home.

Because people with celiac disease commonly get dermatitis herpiteformis when we get gluten on our skin. Soap, lotions, lip balm, and shampoos are notorious for it. No, a napkin ring doesn’t need it (did you really see that somewhere?), but we need to know about anything topical.

I try every new gluten-free version of mainstream foods. It used to cost me $10+ for a loaf of bread or hours and hours of time making it from scratch. Now I can buy a loaf at Stop & Shop for $3.50. It’s great.
