cry more, snowflake.

IMO, it’s weird that national anthems exist in the first place, tbh.

I don’t hate America, and I’m not leaving. But if I invite you over to my house for dinner, I’m also not going to sing a song about how my ancestors were successful in their bid to shoot your ancestors in the face.

I didn’t say it was offensive or spiteful, or that the Revolutionary War was anti-woke or whatever you

I have a lot of negative opinions about today’s G/O Media writers, but in fairness to them, I don’t think that it should be their responsibility to police their own comment sections. To be clear, SOMEBODY should be moderating them, but I have a feeling that wasn’t part of their job description when they get hired.

Yikes. I know Marvel likes twists, but this whole ‘the-worst-Kang-variant-is-the-actor-who-plays-him’ concept is going a little too far.

... and everything surrounding Seattle.  And Portland.

It’s only less terrible because he’s been mostly a quiet backroom player to date. He’s more of the same. And the reason he won is twofold:

Johnson is a fascist religious extremist, and you can fuck right off with your lies about AOC.

I have some bad news for you about everything surrounding Austin.

Translation: “I just want everyone to be quiet about politics like they were when I was a kid so I can pretend everything is okay!!!”

What policy positions make AOC an “extremist”? I can’t wait for your no-doubt well-informed, carefully-considered response.

A Southern state with high levels of poverty and massive race-based inequality? Don’t take the one Democratic location - New Orleans (voted 83% Democrat in Orleans country in 2020 election) - as representative of the rest of the state.

He’s worse. He just wears a suit jacket.

This is maybe slightly less terrible than Gym Jordan? More likely he’s just as terrible but not yet as infamous. It feels like the hardliners got what they wanted and the “moderates” got to play act like they were making some kind of stand before bending over for Gaetz and the MAGA freaks.

Yes. Empire of Pain and Dopesick (the book and the series) make it very clear that certain regions were targeted because they were ripe for exploitation.

I recently finished a novel that includes elements of the origins of the opioid crisis (Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver) that talks about how salespeople were able to flood the market by essentially bribing small-town doctors who weren’t making very much money providing ordinary medical care. I’ve always known

I haven’t read The Hard Sell, but it seems like Evans’ and Blunt’s characters are based on Alec Burlakoff and Sunrise Lee, who also figure prominently in HBO’s documentary Crime of the Century. If so, then I admire the balls of whoever decided to go ahead with Pain Hustlers as a satirical/funny take on the opioid

I’ll do you one better; my dumbfuck BIL has been an active duty Marine for over a decade. And *every time* the government is about to shut down over budget negotiations we tell him to start saving money, and *every time* he tells us we’re wrong and that he’ll still be paid regardless because somehow things have

I have so many friends who work in our local VA hospital, and they’re so, so sick of having this constantly looming over their heads. It’s so demoralizing for them, because even if a shutdown happens, they’ll have to keep working (of course, that’s not what they object to, obvs.), but they won’t get paid. So basically

“Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your government shutdown!" -House Freedom Caucus
