Is SNL where we find new talent these days though? For a long time it was, at least through the early aughts, but then for a while it seemed like The Daily Show was the talent incubator. When the writing is consistently bad, does it really matter who stays or for how long? Even if you have a Will Ferrell type who can save the occasional dud sketch, when they’re mostly duds, no amount of in-the-moment improv is going to save the show.

Aw but my favorite part of SNL is the neverending wheel of people that get hired, do nothing, and leave. Luke Null, Siobhan Fallon, Dan Vitale, Brooks Whelan, etc.
