That’s all I get?

“Yes. Unless you’re one of the Hawkpeople. They get a few.”

Yeah, I had this same take on Her.

[T]here’s often a casualness in her depictions that makes her presence feel almost like it doesn’t have quite the import that it should.

But that’s exactly the point - we’re not supposed to know Han is a good guy. I get that Lucas is dealing with archetypes, with obvious good guys and bad guys, but Han still fits into a mold - the rogue who turns out to have a heart of gold. We’re supposed to believe he’s out for himself, he says throughout the whole

At that point, Han isn’t a good guy. He’s a drug smuggler. He only becomes truly good when he returns at the end. He’s a shade of grey in an otherwise black and white universe.

He’s not a good guy at that point though. Han’s whole thing is that he starts off as a self-serving dick who only looks out for himself, then develops into a true hero by the end of the movie.

I really don’t understand this argument. How are superhero action movies any different from the Arnold and Stallone steroid-fueled action movies of the 80s? They’re also about one strongman who will save us all. They just wear slightly less silly costumes.

I first heard the “Dr. Manhattan resurrects Kovacs” idea from the first actual Rorschach fan (as opposed to just being a fan of Watchmen in general) that I met; he was kind of an odd guy who had a shrine to Kristy McNichol in his trailer and I don’t think that he had a lot of friends. (This was just a year or two

Like his namesake psych test, people see in Rorschach what they want to see.  Some see a psychopath, others see a Batman type hero.  And the core question, do the ends justify the means? Do you accept his cruelty and violence because it is aimed at bad people?

^This is the best take.

This series shouldn’t exist. It should be canceled immediately.

So, a Rorschach test is a test where there’s an ambiguous form but what is important is what you see in it. Also, I’m reminded of the Nietzsche quote from the original Watchmen issue focusing on Rorschach, that when you stare into the abyss the abyss stares back at you. My guess, or I suppose what I would do if I had

Alas, I only regret that I have but one star to give for this post.

42 stars.

I didn’t realize a bowl of petunias could post here.

“perhaps it will be my friend.

THIS!

Came here expecting this.  Was not dissapointed.

“not again...."
